Distractions From "The Project" - Anyone Else Have This Problem

I have a similar distraction but it has more to do with preparing for a project but seemingly never getting to the project. I like to make specialized jigs, mounts and mechanisms that will make the project better and easy to carry out as well as sourcing the correct tools.. But the preparation becomes the project. I just hate to mickey mouse stuff.

Love the jack though. Would look good in my mancave store wink

Not sure about the vice refurbishing though. A vice is just a vice biggrin

I love tools and cannot pass up a good find.  Of course I can't just use the tool either, I have to make it a project and restore it.  This always slows down my main project, the car, truck or bike I am building.  Does any one else suffer from this?

I have a thing for vises (vices) and especially Records.  I find them and have to redo them right away.

I found this Walker Roll-A-Car 884, 1950's vintage for $75.00 locally, 24" lift with four ton capacity and a newly rebuilt pump.  Used it once to swap the winter tires and rims and then of course all apart to redo.  I just need to machine some new bushings and pins, press and fit them and then all back together.  Add on your distractions, I want to see them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, I have distractions on my distractions.

I'm currently trying to do the clutch on my wife's WRX, and keep finding excuses not to get it done, like too warm, sore arm, dead dad etc etc.

Until I get that done, I can't start on my project, which will of course have it's own selection of distractions.

I thought it was only me.

Distractions rule my world. This summer I have taken a break from my truck to restore a '41 Ford 9N

I hear ya, it's like a magnet for me.  Last week it was a blessing though to get out of the heat.  Keep the posts coming.  By the way 2inchstoolow, love the 9N.  Can you even operate a tractor in that area?  I am considering a move to Clarington to finish out my OPG career at Darlington GS with my coal fired station closing in September.  I'm a Southern boy and have no "lay of the land" East of Toronto.  I should start a post in "General Talk" with a poll to see what Ontario Rodders think.  Gravenhurst, Campbellford, Niagra Falls, Northbay, etc.......  which area would the rodders pick.  Rhys.

Thanks for the compliments in the 9. It's been a fun project, some challenges but not too bad so far...enough to keep it interesting. This 9 belong to my grandfathers cousin, I bought it from his granddaughter and promised to bring it back to life.
I was not aware of a specific club, my father is a member of the local heritage tractor club and I will likely pay my dues to support it. He has my grandfathers 8N that we refinished a few years back and a John Deere 430.

Rhys, you certainly can drive tractors around here LOL my father lives in town and uses the 430 to clear his driveway. I also live on 86 acres so I'm good! LOL Clarington is nice, like everywhere people will give you mixed reviews but I have lived here my entire life (before this municipality was called Clarington LOL) and can not imagine living anywhere else. I live a stones throw from Mosport...I can hear the cars running the track, I can see the Ganaraska Forest (10500 acres) from my bedroom window, you can ski, cycle, ATV, boat, fish, hunt, shop, etc. within a 20km radius of almost anywhere in this township and both Darlington and Pickering generating stations are within easy commute.

I'm constantly distracted, most times by my own doing, small side projects that pop up, etc...

And then there's the distractions like I had yesterday, I was pulling the fenders off a truck I'm parting out, and got swarmed by Hornets, got stung multiple times (10-15) before I could get out from under the truck.
I didn't see or hear anything until I got stung, I still don't know where the hive is, as I rushed to the emergency dept.

I've been stung numerous times before, but only a single sting, so I wasn't aware I was allergic, as I would only swell and itch where I got stung.
Yesterday, my whole body got extremely itchy, my lips started swelling, felt like I just came out of the dentists office, my eyes puffed up, had difficulty breathing...All within 2-3 mins after getting stung.
Needless to say, I spent the better part of a beautiful sunny afternoon in the hospital, until 10pm last night.

Not exactly the type of distraction I like, and apparently the good looking nurses (side distraction) don't work on long weekends.

Gazoo. Are you sure the swollen lips, puffy eyes and numb feeling wasnt from the ride i took you on sat night?

Or was it the beating you got when you arrived home so late?

It wasn't from the ride. All I got from that was a few bruised fingers and elbows, from trying to grab something to hang onto, LOL.

My distraction is opening the door to my garage and just giving up trying to find my car in there.

Showed these pic's to Glenn and got the preverbial kick in the A$$ to clean up, make room and time to work on my '58.

What I needed was a shed to move all the garden tools out too and then try and organize my garage.

Over the last two weekends, that's all I have been doing.

It's not much of a shed 4' x 7'

The results of a lot of hours, sore muscles and bruises.

Whatta ya know, Found a car in my garage.

Glenn, I even managed to pull the BBB455.

IMG_1099Custom.jpg?t=1375759701

Glenn, I'd like to thank you as you are the only one "aside from Joe" who has kicked me in the behind to motivate me.

Now I just need to make time to replace all the components on the front end.

I'm sore as heck but am feeling better at the fact that I can now walk in my garage, smile and not be discuraged.

Wow 58Chev, that was a ton of work to get to that car.   I have the same, a nice big garden shed (or two) to keep all of the garden stuff in.  You need a pry bar to get anything out of it though.   Can't wait to see some build progress on this one.  Keep us updated, Rhys.
