Had to find something interesting to do while I am in Quebec so I took my Dad to the Bombardier museum yesterday. Lots of neat old stuff in there. Something I didn't expect was to see some from George Barris. He helped design this snowmobile in an attempt to set a record. The info on the sheet never said how it did. It was hoped to go 322kph. The staff told me that it never lived up to its potential, trying to get 4 triples to work together is difficult.IMG_0744.jpgIMG_0745.jpg

YOU ARE UNDER ARREST MIKE!!!!!

Kidding...but when I was there I took a picture of that and got in serious ****. They threatened to kick me out. They had a strict no picture policy then....this was in 2010 so maybe they have lightened up a bit.

Pretty sweet sled though...they also told me it did not perform well...infact I don't think it ever ran on all engines. There is more of a story on that sled but I can't remember what it is. LOL

Did you toit the "shop" and see all Bombardiers home made machining tools?

Just tell them you don't speak or read French. That's what they do when they come to Ontario.

Everyone there was taking pictures so I guess I could too. Nobody said anything.
The sled was neat, I am not snowmobile guy, but I can get into anything with an engine built for speed.
Was going to have the factory tour but the tour they had that day was french. My Dad was with me too, he wasn't near into it as I was. My Dad isn't a car guy at all. If he can find the dipstick it's a good day for him.

I had the BRP factory tour and the Prinoth (snow groomers) tour....both interesting though the BRP plant is just a traditional assembly line, the Prinoth plant is interesting.

Relooking at the pic, i notice the pipes on the lower right side aren't sticking up like the ones on the other side, unless it's just the pic angle??

The pipes were angled slightly out on all the engines the same. I 'll bet it was about deafening. I think I would have pointed them out more.
