Port Hope Cruise/Drivein

I think Almost everyone on this site east of the big smoke was there tonight.First we met a t the cruise sit for awhile.Porkchop (Redneck Rides) had his newley finished Chevy out for the first time and it is nice. I am looking forward to seeing it run at the Armdrop in Sept.Molton and I decided that it was time to change Steves handle from the Supreme Commander Of The Universe to somethong a little shorter. We decided on Commander Tom and I guess that would make The Beast become Rocketship 7 (how is that for a blast from the past). We were suposed to convoy from the cruise site thru town to the drive in .I was looking forward to rattling some shop windows and maybe setting off some alarms in town with all that power in one enclosed area, but the leaders for some reason took us as far away from the main street as possible and back roads all the way.It was kind of funny that happened because I figured that the prosession would be going right by my shop on the way so I posed the Ventura out front figuring it would be good advertising to sell it.I guess karma bit me for trying to ues the cruise to my bennifet.Once we got there I had a greattime wandering around meeting everyone.I enjoyed watching DaveM try to convince the drivein owner that he should install fuelinjection in his Delorian insted of a carb he was asking about. The drivein business must be pretty good judging by the rolling stock in the private parking area, there were not just 1 but 2 Rolles Roices and a Delorian parked there.I wasn't there at the time(out wandering as usual)but I guess there was some kind of incident in Hemies car involving a radio, batteries and a lot of smoke, so I guess someone might suggest any future barbeques should probably be held outside of the car. The movie ,oh ya, I stayed for the first one,Planes and it wasn't to bad, but I had a really fun time with all the guys from the Ratlers and the Coasters car clubs,The Newcastle Guys, and the guys from the Ontario Rodders site.A fun night with fun people, exactly what a cruise night is saposed to be.   Ed

Made it home and even surprised myself i stayed awake for both movies. Learned the hard way that 12volt gel-cell batteries don't like to get short circuited, thankfully no damage, but made the inside of my car look like Cheech&Chong were in it !! I'll spend the money next time for the proper "D"cells for the radio next time. I heard They're a lot cheaper to buy in South River because they're sold in bulk up there.

Think ed covered it. it was a great evening hanging with car guys. thanks hemi for the BBQ and smoke show. now that i think about it we used to take sleeping bags for sitting out in the lawn chairs and now i remember why. i took my wife and mini me they had a great time too. if i wasn't walking around shooting the breeze with the guys i was tossing a football with my son. too bad they took down the swing set, i had brought the camera to take a pic of ed pushing hemi on the swing.

Where and how was this advertised? First I've heard about it. Was this a special night for old cars?

It was a good time !! Ed must have done a great job sealing his header flanges, because I didn't even hear him leave. One minute he's there, the next he's gone.

Sorry to hear of your dilemma Dancry.

But all is not lost...... there is some good newsbiggrinbiggrin

I explained to the fella's down at the hardware store....(where all the townsfolk of South River get their "D" cell's) that you drove a dodge and they agreed, like me that you needed any help you could get buddy, They have agreed to  put plenty aside for you. winkbiggrin
