Hi Guys.

1970 Cutlass 350 rocket

The last couple of days the "HOT" light for the engine has been flickering off and on when I slow down. It's not on when I am driving. It's not on when I stop. It happens when I am slowing down to stop. Any ideas?

poor connection on the sensor which changes when you slow down, or faulty sensor.  is the engine actually overheating?  or the wire to the sensor has a bare spot and is grounding out while you are lsowing down then hangs after you come to a stop

Just my opinion, but i would hook up a mechanical temp gauge, and ONLY rely on that.

If you put a guage in you may become "Paranoid" !!!!!!My hot light never came on in my 64 Catalina in traffic, but NOW I can watch the guage climb up to 200+ in a jamb up!! Yes the light did work, as manual says it comes on at 215F & tested out on sender unit when I swapped to guage. "Just saying????
