$20 bucks in scraps and lots of grinding but it turned out alright i think, being the first fender i've ever built
Now, i didnt use a buck, its a rat rod truck its gonna go on, and its not an "exact replica "
There's 0 filler in it , 18 gauge which i think is a bit heavier than the original ( 19 gauge? )
First i started out making sections of flexible shape patterns on the existing fender, i used these patterns as a cut size, and quick reference
Next i roughed out some over sized pieces and mocked them up, onto the existing rear fender, to be trimmed to size before being tacked
trimmed and tacked was the next step
welded and partially ground down
Now, because i didnt have time to work on iit every day, it had started to get some surface rust, also i was touching it with my bare hands, so i decided to primer it and grind off primer as i worked
Here it is, nearly finished.
EXTREMELY tired of grinding and filing welds.
When i start the rear passenger side, i'm going to have to try bigger pieces so there's less welding and grinding involved
$20 bucks for scrap 18 g cut offs
$52 bucks for a tank of weld gas
My time........
Out of pocket cost for this piece is $70 cdn, not including time, tools etc
