I have a 1971 304 just pulled from a 71 javelin complete with Headers

and Borg Warner FMX 3 speed
engine is painted and had frost plug done I am not sure if it was rebuilt
but it turns over and trys to start, has timing issues
Trans was in fine shape no reason to think its not still
headers are solid still has the blackjack sticker on them

these were all pulled aug 29th

I was thinking maybe for my self , but all my amc stuff is 72 an later using the mopar style trans . You should try putting it on Frans AMC forum . there is about 20 or so amc guys from Ontario on there . Don't thro it out for scrap before talking to some of those guys . also contact jim rae in port perry . I think his shop is called Rae,s auto restorations . Also maybe try looking up the northern ramblers site ..77.

is the bolt patter not the same for the later trans matching up to the 71 and older engines?

I think the difference is on the crank shaft , the bolt pattern maybe . But I,m pretty shure the difference is in the size of the hole in the back of crank to support the nose of the tork converter . Best bet would be go on Frans amc forum and ask either ramblinrebel or Ken Parkman ..77.
