I am curious and frustrated about some misleading ads on kijiji and hoping some of you guys can fill me in or feel the same way I do...the guy may be a member on here or maybe one of you know him....Here is the scenario..there is a 57 chevy listed as an old drag car from North bay, that has been recently put back to street use....still has vintage racing stuff on it...Now the thing is about the car in the ad is that it is one of our old cars.and nothing has changed except the paint..my son drove it on the street for years while racing it ONCE a year at the airport here in North Bay...Both my son and I have contacted the guy asking where he got his information and explained to him that the car was NEVER an old drag car as he describes it...it was a street car made to look like an old drag car only....it was a completely original car from Wisconsin, not Missourri as he said (to which he did remove eventually) when we got it. This is not the first time this has happened with a car we have sold and seen being resold on Kijiji ...and it pisses me off that people try to mislead others with bull**** and when called on their lying they choose to ignore it. I realize it's a buyer beware world out there, but when you see a car that was once owned by you being sold and nothing has changed it's hard to ignore.
Remember the "telephone game" your grade school teachers had you play to teach you that info can change as it is passed from person to person? I have seen this happen with stories on cars etc. Maybe this is the case and the guy either likes the story he was led to believe better (which is too bad) or he is too proud to have to go back and tell everyone he told these stories to that he was wrong?
Hard to ignore I know, but you tried to set him straight so you did your part.
I'd have to agree, I traded a set of used comp cams ultra gold rockers to a guy that 8 were used. Now they are on kijiji as a new set for 200 firm. Some people just have no problems ripping other people off.
I have tried that route only to have my ad deleted with a warning from kijiji, and also contacted them informing the ad was misleading...they don't give a **** either way.
grab a beer and calm down...easy to do I guess if there is no conscience..i guess I should have added in my post that when the car was traded by my son for a Nova that was supposed to be a drag car also...turned out to be a pos and pure BS...then this thieving\lying seller sells the 57 to an ONDR member with info about it being an ex drag car etc etc... who then contacted me asking about the so called history on it, to which I started laughing and told him the truth.and he then sold it..now, whether he told this guy a whole lot of BS that owns the car now, or this guy contacted the ******* that we sold/traded the car to and got the same BS story and ran with it disregarding the true info given....same scenario from an ex member on here who traded a so called drag car to a friend of mine, then proceeded to give BS details on the car he got that we built.....sorry Carl... crap like that doesn't go over well in my books,,,especially when my name is or was on it.
