So I was thinking about getting a pickup to pull a trailer with one of my cars  to one or two  of the 1/4 mile tracks that are quite far from home, and I have not had a chance to visit in a long time.

But then I thought newer style pick ups are a dime a dozen. there is just not much style to them. So I thought I would look for something old school that I could hot rod a bit and tow in style.

So I thought maybe build an old school van that I can tow with carry spare parts and maybe even get some shut eye if I have trouble finding the exit at the beer tent.  Ya I know I could buy a RV or big 4x4 truck but I am stuck in the past and love anything 70s or earlier.

So if anyone know of a van with good bones please let me know.

Budget is fairly open depending on condition of van.

thanks

If you get an older motorhome (RV), you will not have to get a yearly certification and yellow sticker on both your van/truck and trailer.

Oh, you are looking for an "old school" van and not a yellow and black old "school van"! That should make it somewhat easier. Lol!

There's a 50's GMC bread/milk delivery van on the 35/115 Hwy between Orono and Newcastle. The good part is it an original frame/running gear with an Aluminum body! He was asking about $4000 but it's still there and no longer near the road with the for sale sign on it.

I stopped and looked at that delivery van on the 115. Pretty cool looking but it's kind of crusty underneath. I thought he was asking more than $4k when I looked at it but that was a couple of years ago...and it's still there.

I had considered buying it and dropping the body on my bagged 1500 chassis I built, but not for that kind of cash.
