I think that V8 was a 304??

For parts, there is or was a guy around Ottawa??? who used to advertise in "Old Autos" paper who carried just IH parts.
Someone here may know of him , or have his ad if he is still in business.

Hey hedgehog. First I'd like to welcome you to the forum.

Now as for parts, all depends on what you are looking for. There is some other forums for these trucks and there is a few suppliers that have parts and some that you can still get from the IH dealers. A lot of parts interchange between the pick ups and the Travelall's from '61 to '68 and the Loadstars. ('62 to '79)

Does this truck have the 5 bolts axles (1100C model=1/2 ton) or the 6 bolt axles (1200C=3/4,or a 1300C=1 ton). 6 bolt are hard to get brake drums for. 5 bolt can be cross referenced with Ford and late '60's/early '70's Jeep J-2000 pick ups. Wheel cylinders, shoes and hardware kits are available.

As for the engine, it could be a 266, 304, 345 or the 392. 392's are rare. Engine Id/serial number is stamped on the passenger side of the block. There is a flat pad under the number 2 cylinder (between the fuel pump and the motor mount) that will either say 266, 304, 345 or 392 in the second line. It is a real pain in the butt to read. A mirror helps to see it. An easier way to tell is to take a valve cover off and look at what the casting marks say. IF it has a factory 4 barrel set up, it will not be a 266 or a 304. IH never made a 4 barrel intake for the 266 or the 304. 304 and 345 where the most common engines used.

Something else to remember, an IH 304 is NOT the same as the AMC 304.

New clutch and master cylinders are available as well as flex lines. E-brake cables would have to be cross referenced.

Here are some suppliers. Unfortunately, all are stateside:

Hedgehog those trucks a waaaaay cool. If the body's good & the drivetrains not up to it then a Nova front clip, Ford rear and drive train of your choice will make a really nice runner.

Nice info Ziggy.

those tires look like they have overspray on them. if that thing has a fresh coat of paint on it id be asking to see pics from before it was painted. paint can hide a lot of problems/bondo etc and fresh paint before a sale is a red flag to me.

Looks like a pretty easy build to me so long as it's priced right, thinking about the fellow in the Ottawa area who was advertising

parts was more than likely our good friend George Tackaberry, however he does not sell parts for Internationals ,just buys to continue restoring

his "worlds largest" collection Of International trucks and related... You will never have any luck buying from him..

Good Luck,

Chris.

Let me know what you need and I can help you locate. I found NOS pistons for my 53 in Texas. Parts are out there. Most brake stuff, king-pins-engine stuff you can still get from NAPA. Just have to ask for someone that will open a book. I had no problem getting a new master cylinder from NAPA. I have tons of books on these trucks. May have a parts book even. PM me what you need. Shawn

That hole in the pass side of the cab for the gas tank is not factory. Gas filler neck was in the pass side fender and the tank was under the pass floor board outside of the frame. They were notorious for rusting out in that area.

Now as for the guy around Ottawa area. It was not Tackaberry. Can't remember his name, but it was of french descent. Gilles....???? something is all that I can remember.
