Just a run of the mill GM 3 speed ,Saginaw , V8 bell, linkage set for column shift If you can get 75 bucks for it take it . Nothing wrong with them just no one wants a 3 speed, if it was an overdrive unit then that would be a different story
It looks to me to be a 3 speed Muncie transmission from 1958 to 1962. The tailstock had the transmission mount put on in 1958 and I believe Chevrolet went to a saginaw transmission in 1965. Also the starter motor mount in the bell housing is the type used until the end of 1962.

Thanks for the correction Bruce . The name Saginaw is also cast into the case witch has a longer tailshaft then the one the picture. the pre 58 also has a longer tailshaft less the transmission mount. Somehow Iv ended up a few of these thrown in with deals . Really hate to scrap them but as I said no one seems to want them.

I wasn't trying to correct you Slim. Sometimes I just like to throw out some information to keep my brain from wasting away. It's a shame that these transmissions can't be of use to someone.

I really shouldn't promote this but for a daily driver matched to a 235 and decent rear wheel ratio you cant go wrong. Not bad gas mileage little fear of someone driving away in it , and for the price of a good tuneup and an oil change you can replace the entire engine and transmission. I have a complete backup Motor bell transmission that I have a grand total of 200 bucks into. The one in the truck right now cost me 400 but it had a 200 dollar distributor I would of picked up anyway, 5 years 80.000 k starting to get tired but it doesn't owe me anything.Nothing special but it is different. cheap reliable daily transportation for less then the cost of a car payment.
