A couple of months back after a with Grumps, I had a under my a$$. Cleaned up my garage enough to be able to see the car I had stashed in there.
I then pulled the BBB455 and set that aside, I'll be dropping the SBC350 it came with when I bought it. I have accumulated a complete front end replacement of all steering/brake components over the years. So out with the old...
Started cleaning up the frame to slap some Tremclad on it. Man there was a tone of grease build up on it.
Hope to chip away at it a bit at a time, just have to remember the camera. for now.
Roche, At most it might be a few hours a week. I'd like to get out there everyday but with a special needs adult, makes it tough. Been overwhelmed for the last 6 yrs but finally getting to it. As for the angle grinder, been using that too, with different wire wheels on it.
fatchuk, the shop isn't as big as I'd like, 16 x 23 but I make the most of it.
I figured I'd get the tread going to hopefully get me going.
Well called in sick today, back is giving me issues, went to the doc's for x-rays. Spent a bit of time out in the garage this morning. Dug out about 3lbs of dirt & grease from the crossmember.

Frank,
the best advice I can give you is this...one thing a day for the car. Doesn't have to be big, just one thing! Even if it's a trip to get fasteners, it's still one step closer. Some guys get overwhelmed by the immensity of building a car, but if you stick to one thing a day, you WILL get there!
Oh and buy yourself an angle grinder. It will become your best friend for cleaning crap off.
Atta Boy Frank..Good plan to get the 455 out and for the sake of bringing it to life just run the belly-button for now and Rochie is right ..15 min to 1 hr a day at least will move it along..sure wish I lived closer I would be happy to donate a sat to come help from time to time but it's a long drive to T.O. for me but who knows maybe we could get a few guys to-gether to come help as time goes on.. Really does seem to a pretty good bunch of willing bro's on here who would like to see you get on the road. I can understand the size of the job can be intimidating ..We can not all be good at everything ..I am pretty bad at carpentry, or wood, PC and Tecky stuff and your good at that ..I am a pretty good wrench and body guy, pretty good at painting, been fixing and painting cars for 30 years or more..but you know me and been to my shop ..you are just too far away for me get to you for a couple hrs on a week night..maybe a couple of us can do something to help you..mean-time keep the thread going it will help keep you motivated as we can kick your butt every day we don't see a what you did to-day post.. As if I should talk, I still have my 28 roadster sitting in the shop about 15 years now, half done and will never be finished, I think I only had my coupe out twice this year ..getting old I guess..So get at-er and get-er-done before yah get old like me.. Let me know if I can help you with anything..your shop is pretty small for a group to get in and get some work done or is it bigger than it looks in the pics..I am glad to see your getting motivated.....What did you do to-day ?????
Been busy this morning painting the frontend of the frame. Man does it feel good just knowing a bit of work is being done.
Finally putting this quart to use. Was given to me a few years back.
Anyone out there know of any place that I can source out the upper control arm bolts? They are slined at the head side, one of them is in bad shape. To top things off I was going to paint the motor mounts and find that one is too far gone to be reused. I don't remember it looking that bad when I pulled the engine 6-7 yrs ago.

Atta boy Frank keep at it nothing expensive nothing over the top just a nice driver that you can have fun with then as money comes in you can change stuff to suit your taste but for now just baby steps,it looks great keep up the good work!!
Randy
btw the bolt has a knurled shoulder but that was so it never fell out on the assembly line, you can use a normal grade 8 bolt with a lock nut then you can replace it with an original one when one comes along don't let it discourage you or set you back.

Your smoking now Frank..She be looking really good..Feels good to see it moving along eh!! ..Don't wear your self out just keep plugging but don't neglect the family and other things or you could fall back into place where it gets neglected and unloved again..( the car not the wife ) good to see you motivated nice work ....
Nice work Frank. I might have to pick your brains on the a-arms/brakes and power steering experience. I have 2 other 58 Chevs waiting in the wings for restoration and customizing. What did you do with the old spindles and A-arms? I know someone looking for these stock pieces. Chris

I know its YOUR car Frank, but is this car a Delray or a Biscayne? The side window trim looks like stainless, which would make it a Biscayne. The Delrays were painted body colour. Just curious. Maybe something was changed in its past history?
Chris
