Great video Henry, thanks for posting this.
see that "Henry "J" running, "High and Mighty", "Art Arfons", Pretty young looking Wally Parks.
Neat stuff, lot of memories there!!
Thanks for that link ....I was about 14 at the time and just starting to get interested in the drags .....went to Detroit Dragway many times as it was a short trip down river for me . I used to look forward to the " Sunday ! Sunday at Detroit Dragway ! " commercial ....raced there a couple of times but didn't like the " 4 wide " time trials they instituted , I guess to speed things up .
Were you there as a driver or a spectator? I know a few club brothers were there racing their rail...Doug Woodley and Donny Douglas both of the Brantford Piston Pushers, I believe they were in Open Gas dragster class.
I drove there in a '49 Plymouth that I had. Camille Jean (R.I.P) went with me.
I had a pile of black and white photos from there but sent them to a friend down south.
Singer and Miller won the top prize.
Not like today where you can't get near the cars and drivers.
