hoist 5.jpghoist 1.jpghoist 2.jpghoist 3.jpghoist 4.jpg

Well....Bought a hoist last thusday from Direct lift in Toronto. They are located at Keele and #7

A 9000 lbs extra wide. Between colums is 109" Enough for me to sneek my car trailer through

The cost was $2195.00 + HST

Even though its made in China...It still apears to be well built. It has also been CSA approved

Everything was included including lag bolts for the floor

The instructions were well laid out, but I could shave about 1 1/2 hours off the build of the next one

2 Guys and 5 hrs later....TADA !

Only 2 issues......1........ the release covers were cracked and I was missng 4 clips. I called Dave the sales guy, and he drove the to me! WOW!

2.....the instructions say 8 Liters of fluid....nope closer to 14 after you bleed the system

I put the hoist together myself With a buddy....They wanted $750 to deliver and install to Brantford

If you can use wrenches and read instructions....you can do it yourself. Oh yeah...you need a 14 ft ladder

Other than that it appears to be a good hoist for a fair (Hobbyist) price

I would recomend anyone looking for a hoist contact them

what a difference now, hoists used to be huge money and to be only dreamed of by the hobbyist.  then people started buying up old in ground post units but they suck compared to these lifts.  funny thing though i was at tafts in brighton one day last year and these guys scrapped literally tons of arms and other parts for similiar types of hoists.  i asked them why they were getting rid of this stuff well it turns out they are a lift supplier and other shop equipment and they simply toss all the older parts and get new stuff from china each year.

That used to be the biggest problem...arms wearing and getting sloppy

They used to send them to get drilled and bushed years ago...now its just cheaper to trash and replace

out and in.....in minutes....no down time

Funny thing....you see ads for USED HOIST all the time kijiji and they want $2000 and up.....

For a hobbyist....this is way cheaper to go

Years ago i used to "Creeper and Axle stand it" Im old now and cant get up and down as easy

This hoist has helped me continue working on cars without killing my back or knees

they also have a "Low Rise" for garages with lower roofs

This is my WORKIN ON IT HOIST....I will be getting a 4 poster for my PARKIN ON IT hoist

Nice looking setup, price is right too. I absolutely hate working off a creeper. At that price now I'm thinking....
Nice looking shop grumps (clean too!) Any problems with the bay door up and a vehicle on the lift?

No problem with the door

I mounted the hoist 2 inches back from full open.....and the roof is 14 ft high and if I ever raised it that high....I couldnt reach it anyway

Tada....smarter than a turnip

That bay is my "workin on it bay" Behind it is the Fab area.

Its clean....because I just finished it.....100 sheats of plywood ...all wiring and 220...all insulation and furnace.

The hoist was the icing on the cake.

I did have a hoist at the other shop...so my back already thanks me.

IR if your interested ...pm me and ill give you all the info....

Good for you Grumps.  I have thought about a hoist for a couple of years now.  I have 10 ft ceilings so I'd have to go with a 4 poster I guess.

i lucked out with my hoist, its a low boy and it was only 600 bucks and was certified just before i bought it.  the guy who i got it from sold it because he says his insurance company wanted his hoists replaced, never heard of that before but who cares, it was an uplifting experience.

14 foot ceiling - I'm so jealous. I could put that hoist in my little garage but I'd have to go up on the roof to work on the car. Very nice.

Somewhere...I saw a picture of a hoist that took the car up to the living room.
So, you don't really need a 14' high garage.
