To heck with the trailer! (although it's real nice) I'm jonesin' over that very cool welding table!!!!!! That's just awesome!
That's actually a scissor hoist. remove the plate and extend the arms out, and I can lift my vehicles with it. Anyone that sees it, wants one because it's just so darn handy especially for working on bikes, ATVs, lawnmowers. Sure saves my back. Oh yeah, it's a good welding table too !!
actually i have a question along those same lines. how is cragar (for example) able to weld an steel rim to an aluminum center? (like their cragar ss wheels)
There is a steel piece cast into the spoke section that gets welded to the steel hoop, it's still steel on steel.
Hat off to you on the welds..mine look like Stevie Wonder did them..practice practice. Think im going to copy your table idea when I pour my shop floor..nice idea.

Have you ever seen Stevie Wonder's wife??
Neither has he !! Sorry, I had to .
WTF happened to my build thread? Did Hemi43 railroad it like he does everyone else's posts?? Oh, wait !! Never mind...
How do you feel about a new post regarding the 'Lift Table'?.... you know, so this post doesn't get side tracked. I think it would be popular!
Just every detail would be fine and lots of photos, including some arial shots from above and maybe a blueprint or two complete with specs. Maybe a few shots showing it's versatility and the accesories used to adapt to car lift..... sometime in the future....when you get a free minute?
We all would appreciate it and will prove it with lots of kudos in the form of positive comments in your brand new "Scissor Jack/Welding Table/Car Hoist" tech thread!

Did you place a steel tube or box section along the floor before you laid the concrete, to allow air hoses and electrics to be fed through, and be serviced in case of a leak?
LOL-LMAO
buying the snow machine is the cheap part of snowmobiling. i see that trailer pivots for loading. tell the young lad to use royal dist for clothing and go generic on the coloring. lets you be flexible for the next machine and there will, be one.
dang it, you have way to much time on you hands. none of that trailer stuff was there when i was there on sunday night. and yes guys, that is a pretty slick set up with the scissor hoist/table. very-very nice shop set up. the part i liked best about the whole set up was that it was organized. when you get 3-4 days you can come and organize mine. still don't know how a tornado got into the inside of mine and left the building whole.

good meeting you again: rick
We used those type of lifts in the cutting room in the papermill, always wanted to get one for home, too late now. I might look for one in the scrap yard this spring. Merry Christmas, even if the topic has veered off.

Yes, I will do a hoist build next week once the trailer is done. I put this hoist in as an after thought, so any garage can be modified for one. Stay tuned !!
I was doing good progress until DaveM and Atomsplitter decided to force to partake into a few brewskies last night. The sacrifices I do sometimes just amazes me. Anywho, here's some updates;
Did you plan an opening to get anything into the trailer?
I'm no expert and I haven't seen the plans, but I'm bettin' that that whole cap is going to pivot up and the back of the base sub frame will pivot down opening like a gigantic clam. Knowing Hemi, it will have air, hydraulic, cantilever or some wild couterweight system in place making the whole deal a one handed operation (keep your minds out of the gutter guys - this is a family show!)
Well, how close was my guess?

I knew it! ...but a few build details were left out! As for holding the weight of the box cover: Are those extra long gas struts? ....or spring loaded assists? .....or solid prop rods? or???

Congrats, that turned out awesome! Very professional looking - what do you suppose something like that would cost you at a retail lot?
Thanks Steve !! New enclosed single trailers would cost $3500-$4000. Way out of my price range, and as soon as you drive off the lot they are worth a grand less. I'll use this trailer for a few years, and I'll only be able to make money on it. I was going to use gas charged prop rods, until I found out how much they would have cost and they don't work the best in cold weather anyway. I had some square stainless tubing so I made my own. They are a positive lock, so they will be safer than gas springs. I made a handle at the rear of the hatch so that both latches could be release simultaneously. I used some 1/8" dia SS cable and fed it into some 1/4" plastic airline tubing. It works much better than I thought it would have. I'm actually not 100% finished, because I have to wire up all the lights still.
