I have a little lincoln wire feed welder that is going in the scrap pile. It's probably the smallest they make. No argon set up but I think you might be able to add it. It took a hit from a forklift once but had it repaired by lincoln.

 

Might be good for someone who just wants to mess around a bit.

I think it's a 100.

 

flux core unless you can add argon.

 

its a 110volt jobby.

that reminds me of my parents next door neighbour.  the father comes over (when i was visiting my parents) and asks if i could take a look at the little mig welder someone had given his son (early teens), knowing i have some welders of my own.  kid was positive he was doing everything right but couldnt make a pretty weld.  the welder was set up for gas (the wire wasnt flux core) but they never got the regulator when they were given the welder so they didnt realize this.  so here he was mig welding with no gas ..... as mentioned, he just couldnt get a good looking weld.

 Make sure he doesn't check for voltage on it the same way we all do with 9 volt batteries,using your tongue.nono That's how I lost all my hair !!biggrinbiggrin

a buddy of mine was electrocuted at a young age. It turned his hair white. He's 67 now and still as white as snow.
