Maybe if we still could by our kids and grandchildren gifts like this, we could start a whole new batch of Hot Rodders and car nutz just like most of us on this forum.

You is right dub..just try and find some decent quality toys now adays..lots of mind wasters ipads.iphones..but no cool auto stuff like in times gone past..must be progress
i dunno. no one influenced me as i was growing up (no brothers, father had zero interest in anything mechanical) yet i had an interest from the age of four or five. kinda thinkin its either in you or it isnt.
parents made me take piano lessons when i was a kid ..... wasnt interested then and not interested now.
