I'm in the process of installing an aft. mrkt. pwr. window kit in the Torpedoback!! NOT as easy as i thought it would be. There is a window stop at bottom thats 8" long "spot" welded to inner door thats V shaped that goes out to door skin then back to inner pannel!!! & right in the way of pwr. unit. Had to drill out the welds then use a chisel to remove it [ 1 hr. +] Pwr. unit fought me all the way, & had to make up a flat steel ext. from lwr. channel on glass to "lift' unit. Finally got the left side "working" then used a "step" drill [after removing door stop to open door enough to drill] for hole & grommet for wiring. Have made up the pc's for right side so shouldn't take as long!!! just have to install the switches to door pad & be done with it!! 2nd. photo is the "lwr' windo stop brkt.
The unit Pete bought will work great on street rod doors where the doors a slim and tall and usually have short glass. I think he's using the wrong unit (IMO) hence the reason for having to remove the window stop at the bottom of the door.I was asking if he had flat glass, because the unit he's installing is designed for flat glass.
Dan, yes the glass is "FLAT" The factory window stop was the "bugga boo" being 8" long there was NO ROOM for pwr unit. Just got the door back together. I got this unit from GEM street Rods western USA & all it says is E-Z inc. so I'm "assuming it's the same E-Z that made my wiring harness???
