Anyone ever take one of the rocker switch apart. Won't rock all the way to make it work. Looked online and can't get the same switch anymore so I'm going to try and fix it.image.jpg

they pretty cheap so be careful, and full of springs as well, so stuff could go flying.  there will be some dry contacts inside and a spring that centers the switch

Go to Princess Auto in their surplus section. I bought almost the identical switch for my power windows. As long as you buy a double throw center return switch with enough current capacity, anything should work.

You were right. Bunch of stuff came out before I had a chance to see where it came from. Called the company that sells the kits. $125 for the 2 switches , a gauge and a cover plate. I can buy the switches for $15 each, gauge for $30 and plate for $10 which is only $70 . Pays to ask questions. Order 2 switches because shipping was the same price for 2 . Never know when I'm going need another switch.

Good thinking by ordering a spare you pretty much guarantee that the others won't break  or at least enough time will pass that you don't remember you have it or don't remember what you did with it.

Got the switch apart. Lost one of the little rectangle things. Looks there's not much to it but probably more than meets the eye.image.jpg

Lots of that kind of switch on Dishwashers an other appliances.Check the local metal dropoff or scrap yard for oddball things on appliances . That on looks like a fan switch from a cooktop. Ed

Already got 2new switches. I just wanted to know what was inside and thought someone else might be curious as to the inner workings of a switch....

Looks like you just needed to clean the contact and where the wires go on.

Naw..there was something wrong on the inside. It wouldn't rock like the other side did. It was really corroded and I'm just hoping the plug is not the same way. Slots are too small to get anything in there.
