Great idea , Dan. Just tossed a 29" Samsung wife and I bought when we got married. Got sick of tripping over it in storage room. God it was heavy! Be great for someone to use rather than scrapping for sure. I should have posted mine here, doh!

It's so sad when a good working item can't be given away.
I got two 32" TVs over the last couple of years, one was free and one was a dollar, but it came with a really nice roller cabinet with glass doors and DVD storage. Yes, they are these big awkward tube style ones which aren't exactly easy to just throw up on a shelf in the shop, but hey, they're re-purposed and free!
Good luck on finding a new home for it!

you guys and your fancy toys in the shop. i have a 27" i think out there now. re-hashed from the bedroom. but for many-many years this is what i had out there.
as you can guess i didn't watch much telly in the shop. lol
i'd sell this thing with a big box of tubes if anybody interested.
Ya Shag I would probably be interested.Maybe we could work out a deal for something in my shop.I engoy trading my antiques for other cool stuff so .I have vintage stoves and fridges and other old stuff to work with.Drop in next time you are in the area with Rose. Ed
first off, sorry for jumping your thread dan. i put it out there as a joke and mentioned i might sell it. seeing how yours has had its life i will maybe finish here also. ok, guys. 4 or 5 guys have asked about the tv. i responded to a couple saying i would check around and get an idea of what to ask. i know its not a family heirloom by any means but wowser, i had no idea of this outcome. i bought this thing about 20-25yrs ago at a yard sale in havelock. the old lad had it sitting in the garage and it was turned on and working off rabbit ears. there was a big box of tubes beside it and my wife, rip, thought i was nuts paying 125.00, i think, for it and it was a colorful trip home from there. my sales point to her was the tubes will be the money maker some day, easy. about 15yrs ago i answered a couple of adds with guys looking for old tubes, radios, tvs etc-etc and they were quite interested in the box of tubes, my hunch and sales pitch to her at the time. life gets busy so they sat. dans thread comes along and i went and took a couple of pics for the giggle factor and here we are. i was still thinking tubes. it is a 1960 philco predicta model # 4730 continential style, for the ford guys, lol. its the last year of the predicta model and they only made 400 to 600 of this model as color tv was on its way in. i found that there are as many people into this sort of old stuff as we are into cars, if not more. so with that in mind and the ditty below i really don't know what to say. thanks for the thread dan and thanks guys for asking. needless to say it and the tubes are coming out of the basement. rose will be busy cataloging tubes. sorry.

Thanks Rick,
I liked it but never loved it if you know what I mean,lol... I know what I'd be doing with it if it were mine!

Ouuchhh! I kinda liked it, just because it was odd looking. For sure don't like it that much, lol. I never would've thought those things brought in that kinda coin.
Neat pic and posting Rick, and yup, there is a huge following of collectors of old Tv's, radios, and stuff, including the tubes. Many many are not available anymore.
I'll let Art know that he is being considered as part of a partial trade for some type of entertainment/appliance ........ but if its all the same to you Glenn, I think I'll keep him

Just sayin.
Didn't you trade some type of entertainment/appliance for Art when you married him?
Just watching Ricks Restoration. They're doing the identical TV that Shag has.
If it's the same episode I saw, they gutted it and put in a flat screen.
Yeah, that's it. It was on last night. It was 100% identical to Shag's TV, and I found it odd that they would butcher it with a modern flat screen if it was in fact worth so much money. Anything for ratings I guess.
