Just thought I'd put this out early for those who are interested... The Port Hope Cruisers are preparing for their weekly cruise nights starting up on May 3rd and every Saturday on (weather depending) from 6pm till dusk! At HomeHardware on Toronto Road. They have Door Prizes, Ladies/Kids Draws and a 50/50. Everyone is Welcome! I know that some people on here are regulars which is great but we'd love to see some new rides out this year!!! So come on out and join us for a cruise! Last year we had a record of 107 vehicles/motorcycles in attendance and we'd love to break that record! There is also a Tim Hortons, Pizza Pizza and a Chinese Place near by our cruise site. Hope to see you there!!! Should be another great year!!! Come and join us for a cruise!

Why is it called a cruise?? it's a park and sit ...I never understand why they call them a cruise night..I would rather just go out for a couple hr cruise.. personaly I have enough of park and sits..must be an age thing or something but I almost never go to them any more they have just become such a waste of good summer cruising time to do what I wait for all 7 or 8 months of the crummy weather we get here and that is get out cruising..just sayn
to each their own. i really like hangin out with like minded folks. but i gotta agree with the naming it a cruise. guess its lumped in with driving on a parkway and parking on a driveway.

Going to try & hit this one this summer. Guess you have to start at 6pm for the lot to clear but most start earlier than that in my area!!! Usually at the Uxbridge & Port Perry one at 4:30 to 5pm to get a good spot, any later than 6Pm Uxbridge is usually "FULL" but their moving again to bigger " Elgin Park" & should be better than the arena lot they were in

I hear what you are saying Chuk, but why not cruise on over there, park the car and meet some people, maybe talk some of them into leading you on a little tour of their town, then cruise back to the lot to take home the 50/50 prize and finally cruise on home?
It's only the "Armchair Nationals" if that's what you make it.

I honestly don't know why they call it a cruise but I guess it's because you "Cruise" around checking out the vehicles. But to each their own. There is one night where we actually go for a cruise as a group to the Cobourg Drive In and watch some movies.
I do like getin out to see some face to face once in a while as opposed to the forum ..Funny some times how easy it is to get in a peeing contest on a forum but never happens in a group meet where you see into each other eyes ..much easier to read a brother giving you ribbing or takin a shot at you without being so misunderstood and taking it so personal that it takes 8 other posts and three pages to get it sorted out and by then 10 guys are pe'od ... Good for the blood pressure though I do like to sit and visit with some buds at a local burger joint every couple weeks, much more like to meet up with a few friends at a swap meet..or get together even with just a few brothers to go for a sunday cruise to another town or just a cruise..I have grown weary of sitting in hot asphalt parking lots , But I been doing that for 20 years and I have grown really bored and tired of that venue...Getting old I guess, I really don't like even getting under my car to scrape rust off any more either ..guess that's what happens when yah hit the seventies..I wonder do they have a cruise/park and sit night for the geritol rodders and the scooter rodder... I think, I could be at the age I should be carrying a defibrilator in the trunk might night it for personal use
So what you're saying is "Hey, let's pick a Saturday and get a little group of Rodders together and head over to the Port Hope Cruise-in" ...or maybe that's what I'm sayin'. You in?

do we not "cruise" to the gathering? cruising from my understanding is travelling with no particular destination? going and parking with a flock of like minded people to me doesnt serve much of a purpose like paying your bills at the bank, so im cruising in my opinion
Well, my take on it is: "Cruisin' " can be what ever you want it to be. Cruise over to the parking lot and sit in a chair, Cruise to a set destination alone or with a group, Cruise to no particular place alone or in a group, Cruise up, down or across the coast for a day or a week....etc.
Cruisin' in the nifty fifties would most often be in reference to "Cruisin' for Chicks" or simply "Cruisin' the main drag"

Now that is what I would call a reason for the cruisin season and a reason to go cruisin to Port Hope..I would be in unless it happened to be a day that my Uncle Murphy came calling .. You do know it's about 3 hrs back to the stable at crusin speed in a nifty fifties...That would be such a good way to spend the crusin season, getting little groups to-gether and visit each others sit and tell lies park..on a weekly schedule ..be good to organize some venture like that and then just keep a page to post weekly cruises to other places ..maybe not so far as Port hope for me but must be lots of places like within a hundred miles or less something you could do in 2hrs or less..that could be fun to get 15 or 20 cars for a little cruise a couple times a week.. cool idea me thinks..ight not need a defib with a group somebody must know CPR for the geritol rodders..
Other than shooting the breeze with the Guys, the best part about cruise nights is getting there and leaving. Port Hope is a good cruise too because it's EAST of me!!
I tried to get a group to hit a different cruise every weekend last year, but there was no interest and no responce from other clubs or rodders in the area. The plan was to hit Oshawa one week ,Peterborough ,the next, maybe Bellville etc etc.One of the funest(?)things I did last year was to go with friends to meet the Aces in Oshawa ,then head to Port Perry for lunch,an enjoyable day.Maybe I will try again this year.Start at Port Hope and end up ???. Ed, we need cars that can make it that far, I can bring the tow truck but I cant haul 5 or 6 in a chain, or maybe I could
Hey Ed I'd be up for that. Would definitely like to get out more again this year.
so am i. but its the same story, i work every other weekend usually and last year the summer sucked because the only weekends i had off were the 3 i booked off ahead of time.

that would be my take fordy but, Cruisin' in the nifty "sixtys" would most often be in reference to "Cruisin' for Chicks" or simply "Cruisin' the main drag". in peterborough it was up water st to the dub and down george st to the market plaza. anytime after 10 the races would start somewhere. aahh, the good old days.

any saturday night cruise anywhere could become a 2 day jaunt pretty quick, me thinks.
Well the cruisin season is to be enjoyed and not wasted weither it's chillin at the harbour or shooting the **** with some guys at a cruise night no matter where it be! Just have some fun and turn some heads with those rides!
