I was working on the 33 chev this week and noticed that the hinges on the front pillar aren't in a straight line to eachother. ie I wasn't able to pass a dowel from the top hinge into the bottom hinge. Are there any tricks to get the hinges into alignment?
most hinges have a plate in behind the sheet metal of the a pillar that the bolts thread into, if you loosen the bolts the hinge should move around to allow for alignment i would think
No, the hinge isn't supposed to be that way. It's binding for the last portion of the closure. On the drivers side I can pass a dowel through the pin holes directly from the top to the bottom hinge. On the passenger side they don't line up, they're out about an inch.
If the door is hung then Im guessing the direction its out by an inch would be in or out not side to side like joe said its probley pinched in. the rest they shimed the body to get the opening right page 154-155 of the manual also there is some information in the fisher body manual
