The old stage coach ( Model A 2 door Coach ) sold Friday morning. Made an offer on a car that I went to look at last October,..and the owner took the offer. '39 Buick ( Electra ?? )
I believe that the Boyd Coddington Rims will have to go,..and I know (for sure) that the low profile Perellis are going,..those tires just don't do the car any justice.

Not sure about the tire size yet,,...going tomorrow with encl. trailer and pick it up. I'll post more on the specs on the car when I get a chance to go over it.
The Tires / Rims are 17", <><><> Boyd Coddington " Crown Jewel " Rims,..............Tires are 235 - 55 R17, General Altimax. Rims are in Excellent Condition,..and tires are like New.

Very nice car, not trying to nit pic but the rear axle looks to be to far forward
(not centered in the opening) a larger tire may even make it more pronounced
maybe it is just the photo, very nice car for sure though ,always's something to do on them
PS weather sure look's fine there in Vienna

There was a discussion ( Re: non centered rear axle - '39 ) on the Forum here awhile back,..about the forward of center appearance of the axle on a '39 Chev that a forum member had purchased. I went onto the net and checkd into it,.as this issue caught my attention about the Buick when I first went to look at it last fall. For some reason,..( according to pictures )..that seems to be the norm with these cars of that year. I don't know what it will take to get that damned thing back to where it is supposed to be / should be,...but you can bet that it is going back there,..I don't like that look at all,...makes it look like the frame is faster than the body. My welder guy stood around my shop for 3 days, waiting on me to get the 8" Ford rear centered onto the Model A frame when I was building it, LOL,...looks like I may have to re- hire him again.

Very nice that will be a great "driver"! The diffs on this year gm's were very closely centred in wheel well but because of the closed drive shaft the diff had a pad on it that pivots as the suspension goes up and down. When the original diff is discarded and the new diff with welded pads is installed guys that don't know the spring centre bolts are about 1 1/4 ahead of centre so the new diff is forward about 1 1/4 inch. This is an easy fix as most aftermarket pads have three holes in them one to the rear one centred and one forward. If yours only has one just drill a hole the right distance forward of centre to place the diff back where it should be! Only problem you might run in to is the drive shaft may be to short.
Car looks good Wayne. Give me a call when you get it home, and I'll come and have a look-see.
Hey John,..I have her home already,...I've had her all torn to hell,..and back together again,...just had the safety done Monday night,..( passed with honors ),...went to get my Lic. sticker yesterday and the friggin' systems were all down,..and still were as of noon today. This things about ready for us to take for a tour Bud,...installing a new Edlelbrock 600 cfm on it next Tuesday,..and she's ready to roll,..are you still retired ??
Great looking car, I've always been fond of that body style. Moving that axle back will be an easy do. I don't think you need to go much. If it looks like 3", its probably half. I'd bet 2" max. I agree with the tires...not a fit. The rims don't look bad, but would have looked better in big/little with rubber to suit

Ya, more or less. As the Newfy would say, a whole lot more less than more. We'll do coffee again soon.

Sounds like a plan to me Bud,...will give you a shout when it's rolling.
What is the Bolt Pattern for the wheels? I know someone who might be interested.
The bolt pattern is GM,.. 5 x 4 3/4 Brian. I don't want to do anything with the wheels just yet though,...I want to drive it first ( next week ) after I install the new carburetor,..and see if I am going to like the car at all,..if not,..it will be going,..and I will probably let the tires and wheels go with it. However,..if I like the car,..I will be swapping out the tires ( w/ 90 % tread ) and wheels for sure,..they just ain't my cup of tea,..and the combination doesn't do the car any justice with low profile tires on it imo.
V8deuce is correct on the spring pads. My '40 Chev has a Camaro rearend and we had to move the centering hole 1 1/4" to get the wheel centered. Nice looking car.
