Anyone know where I could get an old slip roller? Just need it to roll some aluminum sheets about ten inches long. Not looking to spend a lot of money if possible.

You can get those small 3 in 1 machines at princess auto pretty cheap. They have a little brake, sheer and slip roller. I think the roller is about 12 or 14"

It's not a tool you would use too often, so probably not worth purchasing. I have one here if you want to use it. How thick and what diameter do you want to roll?

My buddy and I are making 5 " round tubes out of aluminum sheeting . Not sure yet what thickness. He is getting it at his work. We are making some scoops for metal detecting. I just thought this would be a good source of locating one. Hemi what is the max . Thickness of aluminum yours would handle? They will be about 10 " long.

It's 3 ft wide. The thickness it will roll is directly related to how wide the material is. If we're talking aluminum, and your material is 10" wide then 3/32 would be the max. I also have another roller, but it's not a slip roll so you can't make a tube. It's only 16" wide, but will handle thicker material. If you making scoops for detecting, then you may be better off just purchasing 1/8 wall aluminum tubing. Just a thought !!

Going to hit the beaches and try and find gold? I have done it and never found anything at the beach. Found stuff at schools and parks etc, but never beaches. I was told that a group of guys come in from TO and form a row and go down the whole beach. Usually done early in the week.

We usually hit Presquile , Sandbanks, soccer fields etc. Hemi I don't have a picture yet. Basically it's just a 5" tube with holes to let the dirt/sand out and has a handle as well. My buddy is still trying to get some prices from the supplier for the tubing. We thought of using the expanded aluminum as well. Still planning , winter is still here so no hurry yet. Lol! We already have a need for about five so far.

Ratchet strap em around one of your welding tanks or something else suitable in size to what you're trying to make..., save the drive anywhere...

If that fails ,my brother Steve has a set of slip rolls in the back shed behind his shop in Campbellford that I'm sure he'd let you play with there..

I have a 20 foot piece of 5" aluminum pipe. Was the top beam of an 8 X 20 portable soccer goal. Also have some 5" square aluminum. You can have a couple of hunks if you want.

Here is a picture of mine. I didn't bother making because they are fairly cheap to buy. Hole diameter is .610.

i haven't been out in years, passing fad I guess, but I found it very relaxing.

I'm not sure. What lengths do you need and how many. Maybe I can mail them to you.

Hey Molten , that's basically what we are making. But with longer handles. Mancaver what would it cost to ship that stuff?

That's why I asked how big and how many? If its only 2 10" lengths, it wouldn't be much. Maybe $20

Ya I wasn't thinking of selling the whole length. I thought you just need a couple of short pieces and I could help you out. If you really want the whole length, it wouldn't be cheap, but you could pry it loose. Let me see what else I have. I will let you know.

I made one of those last year, but it never worked because it had 3/4 holes in it. I guess I should have designed it a bit better.

I should have measured my dog's a$$ first because the crap falls right through the holes. I'm keeping it in case I ever get a bigger dog

Hey man,

I made a few out of 4" tubing, drilled holes, and welded 1/8th " aluminum onto the bottom.

These are more of a "beer mug " style, but work pretty good.

If you really want to be cheap, wait till your out of coffee and drill a few holes into the can and rivet a handle on................... I'm cheap a lot of the time too!

These work pretty good, especially when swishing them in the water.

I would think most fab shops/weld shop could supply what ya need.

Those look just like what I'm building . I wrapped piece of aluminum checkerplate around a fan motor . Was a little tough because it was 1/8 " . Just gotta get my welder home from my dads to get it done.

1/8" is overkill
you only need .060 for that and can be easily formed over a pipe. Pop your holes in it first, it will be easier

The 1/8 was free so that's what I used. Besides it was checker plate and will look better than my buddy's.
