for a late 60's small block i'm thinkin maybe to run the pcv in the filler tube because my valve covers don't have the provision and my intake has the hole for the filler tube. which one is better? pcv in the filler tube as in 67 vette or an in-line pcv into the cap

But you can't use a vented cap like that with it. Has to be a sealed cap. You have to get fresh air in from another source or it won't circulate through the block.

I have seen guys have the PCV in the spot behind the distributor where the old vent pipe used to go, if you have that spot......Then the vented cap can be the inlet
so i'm thinkin on the filler tube with a sealed cap. where does the other end go. into the base at the back of the carb? into a vacuum port on the intake? my pcv now goes from the valve cover to the base of the breather but thats not possible with the cross ram i'm gonna use. blocks a 1970 and i only have to worry about pcv.

PCV goes inline from the tube to the base of the carb. BUT... without the road draft vent at the back of the block, or a vent able valve cover you have no place to let fresh air into the block.

Carb.base;front or rear. You may need the intake source for auto trans?

so a set of these for the valve covers. 2? 1 each side? i did find on the net where somebody had the pcv from the oil filler into the base of 1 carb. this is mockup on my 327 before it goes on the other motor for valve cover fitment. manual trans.

As long as those breathers have filters in them they will work for you, BUT, the MOE does not like crankcase vented to atmosphere, $365 risk. Technically you should have hoses from the air cleaner to supply filtered air to the valve cover vents.

The fitting shown for the SBC did not go to the base of the carb. It went to the air filter. The PCV valve connected to the oil fill tube under the new sealed oil cap. The filtered air flow was into the fitting at the left rear of the oil valley which connected to the crankcase, through the engine and out the oil filler tube through the threaded PCV valve to a vacuum fitting on the carb. (reference 1967 325hp 327cuin SBC.)
You can make it fit anywhere you like . The top of the valve covers is used just for the fact that they are the highest point of the case. If you used the fill pipe you have shown use a non vented cap connect a fitting to the bung and run it to the filtered air side of the cleaner. Hard piped with a short flex end won't look that bad . the pcv back can connect to any plug open to the case keep in mind you want to separate the fumes from any oil mist as much as possible and have the oil stay in the case.you could even come off the side of the pan as long as you baffle the area like they did on draft tubes. As long as you have a high and low vacuum area the fumes will get pulled out . The old inline 6 conversion from the draft tube used the regular breather cap and the pcv connected between the old draft tube hole and the vacuum port on the intake the newer setup use filtered air from the intake.
