Bought mine from Juliano's in Connecticut. www.julianos.com If your frame is not set up for seatbelts, get their anchors, they are the only safe way to go. Don't want to see the grandkids going through the windshield. Best $15.00 investment you can make and so easy to install. Two 1/2" holes per location.

I looked at the anchors they look good.as with most cars of the 50s there is no frame mount that I know of even on newer cars .I think you probably meant the floor bracing.I have read good comments on other sites about their belts and braces.I appreciate your input but I would like to buy at home.I will be reinforcing the backers anyway with plates but I do thank you for suggestion                           Barry

Seat belts should not be fastened to the frame.

I dont think warren meant that literally I think he meant that if my frame was bad that the belts would not be able to save anyone wearing them from harm

I have also been told that seat belts should not be attached to the frame.

They should be attached to the floor with a plate on the underside of the floor

I guess in some accidents the body will shift and the frame wont making injuries more severe

I have never seen an oem car with the seat belts attached to the frame ,alway's to the floor.

Sorry guys, what I meant was factory installed seat belt mountings. The nut is welded into a strengthened piece of the floor. As I said before, if your car didn't come with belt mounts, you should be using something like the Juliano's plate. A nut mounted into a flat piece of steel will act like scissors in an accident. The rounded edges act like a shock absorber and dimple the floor instead of tearing through. I have read several accounts of this happening when people improperly install seat belt anchors. The worst is just running a bolt through the floor. The user has a false sense of security and god forbid if it is a family member like a grandchild. I really don't want to use scare tactics but I will because since Ontario legislated retrofitting seat belts, disasters have happened. If you are going with NOS, ask them what they would recommend for mountings.

Some mini vans the belts just bolt to the seats that just clip in with a catch of some sort

Here are the plates I made for the 57. Since the body is isolated from the frame any movement between them will affect the belt tension, not much mind you but in the event of an accident there can be severe movement.

they very well might be original as 56 was when ford had them as an option along with padded.did not go over big people felt the cars were not safe if they were pushing them .how times have changed first car I had with belts was 64 wildcat always used them to keep my butt in the bucket seat that was in 66.

that is what I was thinking have friend with a brake to put slight bend as you have.one thing I have to check is length of belt for booster seats in back.hopefully some one will chime in rather than starting a new thread

If your installing belts the floor plates are a must even for the booster seat tether strap. as far as far as belt length for a booster seat I have never had a problem with any vehicle getting them to fit with the stock length .If your going to the trouble Id take a good look a how the seats are held in front and back . No point in having the belt hold and the seat rip out of the floor or fold like a lawn chair.

We had the local constable in charge of child safety in cars come to a Piston Pusher Club meeting last year. Just a suggestion...go have a chat with your local OPP or municipal cops and get the real skinny on how the youngins need to be strapped-in. Lap belts alone may not cut it, depending on the size of the little ones. They ARE precious...do it right at all cost.

A lot of guys will laugh this all off, telling stories of how kids used to lie in the rear window, play games, etc. Folks were ill-informed back then. We've learned a lot over the decades. No reason to be ill-informed nowadays.

Hug your kids at home...belt them in the car!

lap belts are deadly and are not safe at all, they may stop you from being ejected from the vehicle but in certain conditions you don't walk away and end up with a broken back. this why we have shoulder harness.  install shoulder harness if possible with re inforced mounting points to cut the risk of the belt fastener tearing itself from the sheet metal.  im not against belts at all, I read about the dangers of lap belts many years ago is all

in respect to the car seats they have shoulder belts built in the lap belt will only be holding the actual seat not the child.I would install a 5 point belt if it was feasible.a shoulder belt will  allow your body to twist causing back injuries also.

thanks Slim as they come in 2 lengths 60 and 74 I just dont want to order to short or too long.I think Julianos have a third length cant remember off hand.the belts will be only used in back the seat does not bolt to floor in same way as front.but your point is well taken.as to plates I would never bolt to floor without them.again thanks  Barry

thanks Chris I am familiar with how to properly fasten them as we have them in daily driver.oldest son is fireman and we have had them in it for over 10 years.you are right though as a lot of people are not aware of how to properly use belts for the seats.scary thing is all the recalls on child seats.
