I am leaving for Bonneville in a convoy with Neil Candy and others on Aug. 4 the person I was going with has had to withdraw. I have a room with two queen beds booked in the Casino in Wendover for 9 days. If finished, I will be taking Dog Spit. If anyone is interested in going and sharing in some of the expenses, PM me for further details. This could be one more thing off your Bucket List
I will trailer it in my hauler and then tour down there with it. I am converting the front end of the hauler into living space that may or may not be useful on the trip. Then again, maybe if it ever gets on the road, it may be OK to drive on this long a haul. It's pretty comfortable to sit in now.
Warren,
use that trailer and camp at "The Bend in the Road." No fees and there's a car show every dawn and dusk!! Climb into Dog Spit for the evening in Wendover. You need everything at the "Bend" cuz there's nothing there but a party and a couple of thundershacks.
Four of us went in '08 and had a ball.
Sorry, I'm going to miss the bash, thought I was leaving from London right after, but we are leaving on the 4th. Thanks for the bend info. Might just make the trip cost effective. Catch you guys later.

It's all good brother.......have a great time and bring us back some salt for the shop.... lol.......catch you next year....safe travels.
It is a very long drive but a must do. I have gone out 5 or 6 times with Gary Weldon and the Watson & Weldon Model A with the injected nailhead. Neil convoyed with us on his first trip out with his car. Real nice guy and love his car with the 302 GMC. Not sure about going this ye yet. Gone for a full 2 weeks but you see some of the neatest cars and trucks ever assembled.
I just took a gander at Google earth and noted where the salt flats are and where the GTA of Ontario is. "It is a very long drive" doesn't even begin to describe how far apart the two are.
I like cars, I like driving but that is just WAY WAY WAY WAY too far for me
If I ever feel the need to attend, I'll either make a month (or two) long trip out of it and hit the west coast and head south or I'll fly out.

I have flown out and rented a car once but a little tricky taking the rental car back when they ask you why is the bottom of the car covered in salt ? lol
The times we have driven with the trailer usually leave early Mon morning and get there Thurs afternoon/night time. Biggest thing I noticed is when you cross a state line and see the mile marker "490" you think it is in kilometers and start to work it back into miles and then reality sets in..490 MILE marker so you know what state you are going to be in for the next 8 - 10 hours. Think the trip is about 2200 miles from Hamilton.
WArren,
if this is your first trip out, make sure you stop in Lincoln Nebraska preferably right around 1:00/1:30 PM and take the (one a day ONLY at 2:00PM ) tour of "SPEEDY BILL'S" "Collection". It is absolutely mind-blowing. There is everything there you would ever want to see in the automotive speed world. Just stunning!!!
I was thinking of flying down this year (or possibly next). From the Westcoast of Canada anyway, the fares were pretty weird. Cheap to fly into Salt Lake City, but it was 2 times more expensive getting appropriate flights OUT of the area. That might be less of a problem from YYZ, even Vancouver doesn't have as many options as exist @ Toronto.
I do hope to get down there, even though I despise any form of relentless heat.
