connecting rod help

hey guys i need some help figuring out what order the connecting rods go back into my sbc 350 i got the engine completely disassembled will all the pistons lose i need to know how each rod goes back into the block i know the big shampher on each rod faces the mains and the flat side faces the other connecting rod right beside it but other then that is there specific cylinder for each rod any help would be great thanks

look them over real good where the bolts hold the caps on,, maybe the person marked them for you

I thought it was only the cam,lifters and related parts that needed to be marked and go back in order .If you are replacing the crank berrings does the order of the connecting rods still matter and if so enlighten me as to why as this could be vary valuable information for me later this summer. Ed

i did check hoping someone did previously mark them but they dident the mains were all marked but the rods wernt and i did replace all the bearings. someone told me that the rods have a slight angle to them and need to go back into a specific cylinder but i dont see the angle so other than setting the big shampfer to the closest main and flat side of the rod to the other rod to the rod next to it is there anything else i need to know about placement

Each rod is the same. like Ed says, if you're using new bearings it doesn't matter.

More important that the pistons go in the correct holes due to wear patterns

think you have it. big end of the connecting rod, the flat side of the connecting rod faces the other rod on any given rod journal and the chamfered side always faces away from the other rod on the same journal also the connecting rod bearing lock tabs face the oil pan rails

when you do the pistons remember on a sbc theres 4 right and 4 left, remember the valve lay out on each head

i replaced the pistons as well i put them on exacly as they came off with the dot forward
and thanks guys this has been alot of help
