If you are looking to buy, Canadian Tire often has their Mastercraft "click" torque wrenches on sale for 50% off. When I was waiting for them to come on sale (a while ago), I noticed they had the cheaper wrench on sale first then had the Mastercraft Maximium wrench on sale the next week. Don't know if this is how they still handle things though.
Don't you Dodge guys just tighten till the bolt stretches, then back off a 1/4 turn?

I have a mastercraft, and I really don't recommend it. It's rather inaccurate and inconsistent.
I borrow the good ones from work, when I need it, they get calibrated twice a year.

Yeah, I'd like to find an older Snap-On or Mac if possible. The one I broke was a Craftsman that I've had for 20+ years. It's always worked fine, but the wheel torque on 2 of my vehicles is 140 ft/lbs, so it finally bit the dust. Only the ratcheting head failed, so I'm just going to TIG the head for now to get me by. Might find one this weekend at Lindsay.
Not on their torque wrenches apparently !! I'm going to Sears tomorrow to see if anything can be done, because I'm sure the one I have did in fact have a lifetime warranty when I bought it 20 years ago.
Dan, the Sears in Kitchener, doesn't service hand tools either, ratchets, wrenches etc...they only replace/repair electric tools, drills, saws all...
I think if you need to get it repaired/replaced under warranty, you need to go State side.

A common mistake is to forget to back it off to zero during storage- this greatly affects accuracy. Mine is a cheap Mastercraft unit from Can Tire and I have no idea how accurate it is - luckily I mostly just use it to torque aluminum wheels. I'm thinking I may upgrade before assembling the 289 though, so I'll be watching this thread to make an elevated, educated decision when the time comes.

The worst thing you can do with them, accuracy wise, is to use them to break fasteners loose.
They are spring activated, having tension on them while storing, shouldn't affect them, unless you have a ****ty spring.
I have a bigass one. Used it to tork down carbide teeth on a 300hp wood hog I had. Too big for me now since I don't have the hog any more. I will check on the brand tomorrow. I'm thinking it might be a 3/4" drive though.

Thanks, but that will be too big. Looking for 1/2 drive up to 150 ft/lbs
I'm gonna call BS on that one... I recall seeing a guy go whiz zing by me on the 401 and then I end up waiting for you to catch up to me while sitting in your driveway in my worn out old Ford...,lol...

No,you have that a bit backwards! We usually back off 1/4 on the throttle to let the Chevs and Fords catch up.
