That photo radar is a shady concept for sure, but eventually it won't be necessary as it will be done through your new cars computer/GPS!

i dont think you have to pay it since you are not from quebec, unless your plates can be denied. if you are never going back there i wouldnt bother paying it.

I got nailed in Spruce Grove, Alberta (suburb of Edmonton) a couple of years ago. They got my trailer plate. 13 over cost $115.....What ya gonna do?

I just got a 407 bill saying they will deny my tag renewals. (just got new ones in March)

No amount on the bill to say how much I owe, When I called and explained I haven't traveled on that lovely piece of highway in 5 years, Achmed told me I owed $58 and I would just have to take his word for it!! True story. lmao.

I have had to pay a 407 bill for the last 5 yrs for $38 Every time I get plate renewed. I call and fight with them every year, I have proof I have paid a bill every year..........

Its enough to make me sit on the floor and color pictures of birds with big fat red crayons, so I figure I'm good for another year and then I'll pay the bill then......... again disbelief evileye

They have ya by the short ones as they will not renew plates unless it is paid. It was explained license bureau "might not have the most recent total as there is a lag time of approx. 5 months........made sense to me disbelief . It's just not worth having a stroke over.

Phone them back and don't take their crap when they say "you'll just have to take my word for it".

The 407 knows when someone is entering their highway and when someone is leaving their highway because they take pictures of the plate (and obviously the vehicle). If you were on that highway, they would have a picture of it. Demand they send you a picture/print out showing your plate (and vehicle) and the time and date. After paying the last bill, you should have received a bill showing $0 owing. If you didn't get a bill showing $0 owing, demand that they send you one, then keep it with your records. If the 407 can't produce a picture of your plate on YOUR vehicle that was taken AFTER the bill showing $0 owing, they can't bill you for it. If they are continuing to bill you every year, for a trip you took 5 years ago, their computer is not crediting your account and you need to demand that they provide you with a receipt of payment.

Phone them back and DON'T take their crap when they say "you just have to take my word for it".

Try showing the statement showing $0 balance at license office. There hands are tied. blah blah blah. I have even invented new swear words, yelled, been nice, talked to there superior's and spent literally hours on the phone at a time. I've decided the next time I have to use that stretch of highway I'm going to borrow my neighbours truck and he can fight with them. wink

It don't make me a bad person..... just a bit of a trouble maker. biggrin

I wonder what happens when someone rents a car up North and drives on 407 ???? Does anyone know how fast they bill and who pays? How do they enforce that?

I was wondering that also, as me and my buddy only saw one flash. I think then can get all the plates off of one pic, as the picture is really clear, digital image for sure.

The license plate numbers and the cars door, and the back glass is blacked out, on the other cars, but enough of the plate is left on blurred to know they're not Ontario plates.

I suppose they could quite possibly nail all four cars for the same speed infraction, confuse , but I have my doubts.

We just got an insurance quote tonight for a new vehicle we're thinking of buying. Wife got a minor speeding ticket 2 years ago, but that didn't affect the rate. We asked what the rate would have been had she had 2 speeding tickets in the past 3 years. They said they would add $220 more to the quote. Holy crap !! Bunch of crooks !! They also said it didn't matter if she was going 4 or 40 KPH over the limit.

Most insurance cos will allow 2 minor convictions. Get 3 minors and that will generate a surcharge on the primary vehicle.

My buddy was traveling in SC this winter and was the 2nd in a line of cars that got pulled over for speeding. When he ? the officer he was told that since they were all traveling at the same speed the police could charge all the drivers. He went on line and basically too bad, so sad for him(them).

!0-15 years ago i had an insurance Co., that allowed all members "ONE" accident without a rate increase.
Sadly it was bought out by another company after it was discovered that a staff member was funneling members premium payments into her own account.
When this happened head office cancelled many of our accounts, and finally the new company reinstated us all, took awhile to sort out as there were many who got cancelled, they had to go through the reinstatements in alphabetical order, it was quite a mess.
Far as i know no one was charged, ( when pulled over for not having insurance.)
Crooked B*tch put the company under.

another 407 story,several years ago I went to the bank to pay my property tax,easy right, so the teller was trying to sell me a new at the time credit card with a yearly fee,I said no,so just want my bill paid,,so about a mounth later I get a statement from 407 saying I got a credit of 3500 and about 2 days before my taxes were due so I went to the bank and said WTF,the 407 got my tax money how,, so she gets the manager of the bank an says we will call 407 and you can explain the mistake,,so I told them pound salt Pay my taxes you sort it out,They did but according to my 407 account It took the bank 4 months to sort it out,,,how long would it have taken for me a nobody to deal with it,,fxxx 407 fxxx the dumb azz at the bank,,,,

sounds like you got caught in the same jamb I did a few yrs back . some body modded their plates so they didn't have to pay 407 tolls , but the changed their number so it looked like mine , That plate went on the 407 , during my weeks vaca to Ohio . ya can,t be 2 places at once . Well , maybe I can . I am kinda special ..77.

edit note , In the early 80,s we were mot cross racing in new York state an would go thru la bell provonce . we,d get busted for b s stuff . fixed it by buying a junk trailer for sale on side of the road in Quebec . Took it to scrap yard , kept the plate . Before we would enter Quebec , we would put it on the trailer an didn't get pulled over for anything . for the next 2 yrs ..77.

I've received 4 differant bills for plates that aren't mine. you have to ask yourself if a system can be that broken of random billing is built into it and they just hope your stupid enouph to just pay the bill. They once sent me a $.05 bill for a late payment charge so I let them send me 6 more before I paid it.
