Interiors? Who does them, time frames and cost?

Iam wondering what the cost, turn around time and who is in the business.  Basically need carpet and leather seats once again Iam in the Ottawa area.

I had someone in mind but the guy charged me $300 to put my glass in which I feel is pricey so I'm not interested in giving him anymore business.

If your pizzed at $300 for glass your gonna freak

When you find out how much an interior is

I have seen $25,000 interiors

$3000 will get you a mediocre interior with seats and carpet

Anything less. Beware.

A good interior will be between 5-7000

That why i do my own

Had to go and look what you are referring to but if buddy only charged you 300 for all the glass in a AD 5 window I consider that a deal, Just installed a windshield in the 57 on tuesday and would have to rate the fun factor equal to kissing poison snakes. Moulded carpet is an off the shelf item for that as well as any interior pieces. Lot of nice leather seats in the high end imports will fit with room to spare. If you want someone to build a one off custom its going to cost and take as long as it takes.

Yeah I agree the front Window is a beatch but the rear and sides take minutes with the new rubber.  I put the door glass in. So in essence for an hours work it was $300. I'm not so sure that is reasonable.

I do have a leather seat now but want everything redone in black.  I was figuring around 2-3k but maybe that's not realistic?

May attempt to do the carpet myself and go from there.

I plan to drive it the way it is now till I get things figured out.

I do interiors and I can tell you it is VERY labour intensive and time consuming.2500 gets you front and rear bench in a simple pattern and cheap cloth or vinyl, and maybe door panels if they are in good shape. It takes about 80 hrs to do a car complete -do the math.

I completely agree.  When I was shopping for interior for my T-bucket I was quoted around $3000.  I thought "WTF Its a T! there is no way it should be that much"

So I went and bought my own machine, taught myself to sew and did my own interior.  Then it dawned on me why they cost so much.  They take a TON of hours to do right and if you try and rush, you **** something up and now you are out time and materials.

Be ready for some high prices, if you find some one that is really cheap, be very cautious.

Look online for prices of just your leather and go from there.  Foam is expensive, leather is expensive, and mostly TIME is expensive.

I just had a Deuce roadster done, carpet, seat, door panels and trunk. Imitation distressed leather look, vinyl. The panels were already made and it was a brand new Glide engineering seat with all the foam done. It came to $5000 and took 9 days. I thought it was a great deal.

Good for you for doing it yourself!! Isn't this what this hobby is all about? You learned something, you made mistakes, you scrapped a bit of material, who cares !! At the end of the day you'll have more pride in that interior that YOU did, than if you payed some "professional" thousands to do it for you. Too many Guys out there calling themselves "Rodders", when all they do is pay people out of their fat wallets to do their dirty work. IMO !!

Thanks.  It mostly came about since I am cheap....hahaha

But yes I learned a ton, learned some new skills, and the machine sure comes in handy around the house.  Amazing what you can save if you have a decent sewing machine.  Custom curtains, fixing dog toys...lol.

I have a full on seat build/upholstery post on a couple other forums.  I will track it down and post it over here.

Shannonville Custom Auto Upholstery did my interior. He specializes in custom interiors and is reasonable. He was working on several rods from the Ottawa area when I was there. Call Nando @ 613-243-7992
