Anybody want to take a wild a$$ guess what happened here? Someone on here must have some knowledge of these cars.

Neat find.

Since the feds have possession, it's probably tax evasion.

That 53 Chrysler probably got confiscated for horrendous wiring and poor workmanship.

bidding starts at $7000. for the 53 chryco, doesn't that seem high for a unfinished rod. especially with a milk crate for a seat.

price is too high already for all 3. The appraiser speak sounds like they have had them appraised and now they think they have more value than they do.

Could be a number of reasons they got grabbed  ...  prices do seem high but its the government they don't care. I think they have appraiser guess at fair market value. Hell if they were a screaming deal I wouldnt of posted thembiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I watch this site all the time. There are very few bargains to be had. Seems like when there is one, it's way out west or east. I have been watching these rods but they aren't worth the minimum bid IMO.

Sticker on the windshield of the red roadster has "Mapleton Custom Rodders" on it. There is a Mapleton Township just south of Palmerston and Arthur, could be from that area. Looks to be at least 30 year old styling with the Maltese mirror and other stick on do dads. They have been sitting for some time with the scum forming on the chrome, not quite corroded through yet but next thing to it. They all look to be of the same time frame, and were likely nabbed at the same time. Somebody knows what the back story is.

Maybe they were stolen years ago and have been hiding for years?

I don't think theft recovery would land them in the hands of government of Canada Surplus. Would likely have to be either customs or revenue related I would think.
