Strike 3, I'm out

So I was in the garage, checking things over getting ready for the cruising season, and I went to check the brake fluid, took the cover off, and my curious mind wanted to see what was on the backside of the cover’s diaphragm(strike 1).  I went to put it on the bench, and just then my dog is barking like crazy out front, so I tried to put the diaphragm down, but the fluid was slippery, and it slipped out of my hand, but I caught before it hit the ground.  I went out front to see who she was barking at, and it was a paper bag blowing past her on the porch(strike 2).  I then proceeded to put the rubber diaphragm back on the cover, but had a brain dump,(strike 3), as I don’t know which way is which.  Damn dog, damn brain.  Does it matter which way, below are 2 shots of both sidesIMG_5558.jpgIMG_5557.jpg?  Also, my initial thing I was doing was to check the brake fluid.  I don’t see a hi or low mark on the inside of the casting, any idea how far from the top the fluid should be, ½””?

Bellows side( your second picture) goes toward the cap. Fluid level should be 1/4-1/2" below the underside of the cover.
