I sure hope this is the new fad coming down the pipes once everyone gets this rat rod crap out of their system. Would be nice to see some new builds with some workmanship put into them !!

I just zipped up my flak jacket awaiting for the salvo!!

You elitist cork smoker!

So only cars that have 40-50 ++++++ thou in them have "workmanship"?

Really?

Who's workmanship ? The guy who was paid to build it?

The guy it was bought from?

Great ......crack out the check book for Foose so I can drive a car YOU think is acceptable?

Seeing what you guys can do with a little photo shopping ..do you think that truck is really that straight because it looks flawless or do you think the pic has been altered?

It's hard to say but it does look a little too good. It probably had some manipulation done.

You're brave Hemi! Keep stirring it up man! I'm with you though...what's wrong with a quality build? Keeps the economy goin!

There is nothing wrong with a quality build . Just don't want to keep hearing about how much quality costs. Good for you if you can afford the Speedway parts and the Trimac transmissions and the $10,000 engine rebuilds. I am actually quite happy for you.But I am equally happy for the kid that gets his ride on the road cheeply or the father and son team that build as they can afford it .Inexpencive doesn't mean cobbled together . No paint doesn't mean cobbled together. A couple hundred dollars is a lot of money to some of us so as long as the driver is happy everybody elses opinion doesn't mean diddly squat. Ed

Actually, a quality build doesn't necessarily need to cost that much more money. To each is own, but seeing rusty cars is getting tiresome. I want to see cars again where the owner took a bit of time to get a dead straight body and layed on a flawless paint job. IMO opinion, time spent on a build and not money is the determining factor of a quality build.

You can do it yourself if someone shows you the proper method and proper materials of doing it.

I'm a car guy so I like cars and respect anyone that undertakes a build. Whether it be themselves building on a budget (and keeps it safe) or the guy with the cheque book that supports the industry and keeps some families fed and clothed.

I'm more tired of those that want to divide the hobby and industry to suit their own ego's and attitudes than a rusty or primed car. Those are the cars right now that are bringing in a younger crowd into the hobby so I for one pat them on the back. Natural progressing will be towards fit and finish. The self proclaimed "gods" of our hobby are the real enemies not the rat-rodders.

I think the younger crowd are more into Hondas and Toyotas and not so much rat-rods. The face of rodding is changing. I don't see any "enemies" in this hobby, just a bunch of different people with different tastes.

So knowing what it takes to, among other things, get a body nice and straight, doesn't that warrant some kind of appreciation? There's guys on here that do these things for a living, and yes, most of us as a hobby. Appreciate the work, not the dollar signs. I'd love to be able to build a car as nice as Hemi's, but I don't have the talent. I didn't pay a king's ransom to have my Belair painted and I love shining that baby up.

We all enjoyed the R2 build from Invision...that ain't no POS rat rod, yet everyone chimed in about the unbelievable talent, EFFORT and design going in to that build. Never saw a negative word about that car...and its not even a hot rod. Incredible work. The next build Nick has going is a rod, but again, not a rat rod, and not really a hot rod. Most of us can't wait to see that one come to fruition. I haven't seen criticism about the $$$ that would cost.

Since when is the LEAST amount of money spent on a car more important than the car itself?

Man, the opinions on here are over the top sometimes. Mine's just one of them I guess.

that's funny hemi because my rat gets hoards of attention and endless compliments.  people who I talk to say they are tired of cream puff perfect rods.  im sure there are people who dislike the rat genre, I have yet to encounter them.  I suppose if I crashed the concourse de elegance I might get ran out of the show.

I like rats and nicely finished rods as well. What I can't stand is the truck at the top of this thread. It's just wrong. Of course, my opinion has been wrong before...

I think a body with a few waves is so friendly. My car waves at ever car it passes and only a few wave back. A little stuck up i say.

It's not right or wrong, but a matter of taste. I happen to love the look of that truck mainly because it's so simple. No "in-your-face" graphics or extra add-ons to take away from the clean lines. IMO

Beautiful truck, as far as I'm concerned (with some fantastic engineering involved in the chassis/drive train) but I'd NEVER want to own it. It's just too nice.

Cars/trucks are to be driven (again, my opinion) and that truck is just plain too nice to haul the Seadoo's to the cottage with (gravel roads).

Nice to look at, but I have zero interest owning something that is that well done and therefore (again, my opinion) extremely "use limited".

How many here use their classic vehicles to tow seadoos to their gravelly road cottages? I would never you my car as a work vehicle or daily driver.

No reason the owner couldn't cruise and travel with that truck.

But I get your point

My truck has comercial plates and I use it for work everyday . Its a truck for god's sake. before the 57 I used a 05ss as a work truck and when the 33 ford is done its getting the same treatment.

Like I said, I love the truck, but wouldn't want to own it because it can't be driven. The undercarriage is so detailed that even a 100 mile trip would devalue it $10000+.

My truck is lowered and is not chopped, I love the look. Not as low as the truck at the beginning of the thread..... AND Certainly no quality workmanship has gone into my truck though. lol

Overheard a couple guys recently mentioned how they have to be careful not to wear any clothing with metal buttons, zipper or rivets when near their cars...

How fun is that?? Jogging pants dress code to go near their cars?
