well im loaded and ready to go tomorrow morning.  nice thing about my smuggler trailer is its pretty much still loaded from stirling so I only had to spend a few hours getting stuff ready instead of the entire day like I would normally.  I called hanney to let him know I was coming this year, he said good as he expects to rake it in from the 5 dollar parking.  says hes going for a penile implant, the wife wants some action he said

Rob, I don't know which way you are going to the flea market, but Barrie Police were having a commercial truck safety blitz today, they had a whole stack of license plates they had removed. I'm not sure if is a 2 day event or not, but I would stay clear, apparently once they pull you over, you are there for at least an hour regardless of your vehicle's condition!

It appears to be the "Barrie Police during the first day of its annual commercial vehicle blitz"  for commercial trucks ... yesterday and today ...

Its on the front page of the local Simcoe County newspaper below ...

http://www.simcoe.com/simcoecounty/

It continues today at the Barrie Molson Centre ...

Here's a quote taken from the news regarding the Barrie truck blitz:

Barrie Police Sgt. Glen Furlong said "In that one, the entire front ball joint was gone confuse. If he was going at (high) speed and he tried to make a turn, he’s not going to make the wheel turns.”

Wow, so ball joints are only needed for turning at high speed? Interesting. If I ever build a drag car, I'll eliminate both the upper and lower ball joints for the weight savings (it will save me some money too). I would only be turning the car after the race, at a very slow speed. Brilliant hmmno

I am sure that his statement did not actually mean literally gone.like saying something was shot it does not mean swat needs to be alerted.just to make people aware drama draws notice from people of what is on the road everyday.

I actually agree with you that "gone" does not mean literally missing.

The problem is, as I see it, how he worded their find.  The general public is going to assume (again, based on the wording) that what must be an important part of some large truck had fallen off and was truly missing.

I would much prefer they worded it honestly with something like this "we did find a ball joint on one truck that was quite heavily worn, and definitely in need of replacement. If the ball joint didn't get replaced in the very near future, it could have caused a steering problem".

The word "gone" should not have been used as it could be very misleading to people unaware of what a ball joint it (and I would assume that is a vast majority of the public).

These blitzes are probably a good thing, as long as the Officers don't let their authority go to their heads (if that's possible). There's a lot of junk going down our roads, and I don't mean Rat Rods, hot rods, or specialty vehicles. It's the everyday cars with a gazillion miles on them and years of zero maintenance they've had that scares me. Another problem on our roads is those $hitty tent trailers that have been converted over to utility trailers. Just because it has 2 wheels and an axle, doesn't mean you can haul a skid of cement blocks with it.

x2 on that sentiment Dan.
Its the everyday stuff or daily drivers that scare me more then rats/hots or specialties.

Drove Bukshott down to Barrie and back today, MTO were pulling over trucks at the weigh scales in Gravenhurst. I passed at least five cops including one on motorcycle who passed me and all i got was thumbs up and smiles.

If he said the ball joint was shot 8 or 9 of them would of emptied their revolvers into the driver . Why pay the guys at the MTO when we have these cowboys looking for something to do.
