Apparently a boost spike of 29lbs did some damage. But it was driven here from St Thomas and was running ok despite a pushed out intake gasket. Good thing I dug a little deeper.
8 teeth left on the double roller cam gear, broken #6 spark plug, porcelain tip and ground electrode gone, cracked piston and in bedded plug material in piston and head on #6 . leading edge of one turbo showing signs of the plug parts going through it. And 2,3,4 main bearings pounded/wiped . But catastrophe averted. No crank or rod bearing damage. Other 7 pistons and all the bores are fine. A quick freshen and off he goes again.
6000 hard miles and a hand full of 9 second passes.
So you wanna go fa$t eh!

There's definitely something to be said for trailering a race car to the track. I'd say he got lucky this time as the damage could (most likely) have been a lot worse putting all those miles (during the trip home) on a hurt engine.
Don't get me wrong, it is totally AWESOME to drive that distance, run wicked times and drive her back home but when crap does happen (as it has a tendency to), a trailer is a pretty nice thing to have.
