We're planning on making the trip to Syracuse next month and thinking about taking a truck and car down.  The problem is I don't own a trailer.  Does anyone have a car trailer they'd be willing to let me borrow for a week?

I don't know how a borrowed or rented trailer will go over with homeland security . Not much they can say if you produce the ownership and have the owners number handy .  might be better with a dolly if the car and truck are plated.

well grumper if the logistics weren't so much, maybe, i would have a heck of a deal for ya. seein how were on this sight and a couple of guys know ya i would feel comfortable letting you take a trailer i have here that i just p/u'd up north for a little barter deal. scenario, you come and get the trailer, belleville, and all the hardware, which i will supply, to completely re/wire the lighting on the trailer. you take the trailer to syracuse for your thing and bring me back the trailer.
-its a car hauler 22ft trailer that needs to be re/wired. hence the reason i got it at a reasonable price. it pulls straight and it has juice brakes on it. i have it wired now with a temporary magnetic tail light system on it. i hauled my 50p/u over to a buddies place, 10-12 miles, for some body touch up with no problems and it felt good with the load but i used my f350 dually to pull it which could hide a flaw or 2 just do to the size of the truck. i will check the bearings and tires here and replace if needed prior to you picking it up.
-i'm not worried about the border thing, old truck driver, as you will have a letter stating that i lent you the trailer and my phone number. don't mention the barter thing. it could be considered as rent and thats another area.
-you get a trailer for a week at a reasonable price, $15.00, and i get the lighting done at a reasonable price. except for one other itty-bitty thing, a 6 pack of beer, $15.00. lol

Jump on that. As for the border, as long as you have a letter from Shag or whoever there won't be any problems. I've hauled various trailers that weren't mine back and forth, never had an issue.

Uhaul is lousy for renting car trailers from. They want you to haul a very small car with a very large truck and that's it, so if you try to rent from them tell them you're hauling a MG Midget or a golf cart. And they don't like their trailers crossing the border.

I rented a U-Haul from the Oshawa Outlet for last years Syracuse Nats and had no problems at the boarder.
They didn't ask about the ownership or trailer insurance, I would assume, because they are crossing the boarder all the time.

That highly depends on which border crossing you go through.

I found Windsor, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie and Point Edward to be a lot more difficult to "flow" through, compared to Cornwall and Lansdown (1,000 Islands Bridge).

Thanks for the offer Shag. If you were a bit closer I'd do it and for the $15.00 I could buy you a 30 pack from the states!
