Welcome to the site from Walkerton. That is a SWEET looking Anglia. Brings back a lot of memories of the one we built in the 60's. Good luck - sure can't build them for that price.

I think it needs to be chopped and dropped, but keep the lean back look...and that would make a killer rod. add some wicked mods, and a one-off paint scheme, and it would be worthy of front page CKD, or OSR for sure!! or any other rag for that matter!!
Good Luck

Hi, I just saw your comment to my old ad for my Anglia for sale. I sold it to a gentleman in Prince Edward Island. He bought it just from the photo's  and came out with an enclosed trailer to pick it up.  The really strange thing to me is your photo of the Knob Hill Speed and Custom Anglia because I grew up in scarborough and lived across the road from Knob Hill Speed and custom. I bought my 1st set of mags from the owner for my 1968 Cutlass "S", with a factory 350, 4 speed hurst shifter. .I remembered the owners name all my life and now suddenly, the name escapes me! I remember that he had an AMX in the back of the shop that I think they raced. I didn't remember that there was an Anglia until I saw your photo. The "really" strange thing about your car photo is that one of the names on the side of the car is Lang, and that is my last name too. What a coincidence. I was building the  same car 45 years later , same last name, and i lived across the street at that time/   Holy!!

Congratulations on your sale Jack.  It is no wonder it sold just from the pictures.  It was an awesome build.  Just the way an Anglia should look.

As for our Knob Hill Speed and Custom Anglia.  The car was built in London in the early 60's.  I (John Willoughby) was a sales rep living in Toronto with a sales territory in Scarborough.  I became friends with the owner (escapes me too) of Knob Hill Speed Shop who was looking for some real good Anglia panels to use as moulds to make fiberglass Anglia body panels.  He had a friend who was in this business.  I gave him ours and we were the first to run his fiberglass one piece front end, the doors, the rear fenders and the trunk lid were all fiberglass.  They came no charge to us.  He agreed to sponsor our car with a free paint job and parts at cost.  The car set the NHRA G/Gas record at 10.79 with a modified 292 GMC six cylinder, cut down V-8 heads and a home made Hilborn Fuel Injection set up.

I don't think we ever had the car at the Knob Hill Speed and Custom shop in Scarborough, so you would not have seen it there.  We were all London guys.  As for Lang, Wayne Lang and Ralph Hope were my partners and they went on to bigger and better things with their partner Wes Rydell and the first fiberglass Vega.

It is a coincidence you were doing yours 45 years later, and you did well.  It is a GREAT looking car.

Hope you enjoy the Ontario Rodders Site - it is not a bad place to hang around.  Welcome.

Doug,Ah yes the Knob Hill Hotel, might have seen you in there, as I was living in TO at that time. I Remember buying a "Sparkomatic" 3spd. floor shifter at Knob Hill for my 55 chevy. One of the guys I still see at cruise in's has Knob Hill's Old AMX [ AMC] that they used as a drag car but has been restored back to stock!!!

Thanks Pete for the Knob Hill Speed and Custom owners name. Milt seems like the person I was dealing with, but it was so long ago.
You mentioned Jim Jr. being a member in your car club. I would be pleased to share some pictures and information with him about our Knob Hill car if he was interested.
Please PM me his contact information if he is.
Thanks for your help.

John
