So I bought these plexi-glass display cabinets from 34Guy awhile back. There were a few scratches on them and I need to get them ready for the upcoming ELTA Bash, So I watersanded them with 400, 600, 1200, and 2000. On to finding my polishers. Hours later I find one of them, but it's only an orbital unit....do you think I could find that conventional electric one? A few more hours later I do manage to find an air powered unit and it's working out well- Just a little frustrating wasting hours looking and still not finding it!
Anyone else experience a similar occurance? I mean, I almost went out and bought a new one!!!!

Yup, every day, every project I undertake. I know I have the tools, but I have four different work areas, and the tools get carried around in a constant flow of "where and when" it's needed. I've given up on putting all the tools back where they belong, as I seem to never have enough time to complete a project. And putting everything away, just to pull it all back out, cuts into my project time.
I don't have that problem. After all these years I have learned that whatever I have a hard time finding is always in the last place I look. If I could only learn how to look in the last place first, but,, then,,. Oh hell , what was the subject we were discussing?
I had been looking for a bin of drywall tools for months, even asking everybody I have done some work for.
Eventually found it in one of the corners of the garage almost under an engine. Drove me nuts.
Lol, all signs of ageing, and too many things on the go.
(I,m in the same boat, having to write notes at times to remember to go somewere, do something.)
Yes . The notes. I have been writing notes for a few years now but lately i have resorted to writing directions on my hand so i can find the notes. Is this a bad thing?
Couldn't find the new tube of weatherstrip adhesive tonight that We just used to finish up Ben Camaro. Looked for half hour and finally found it in the cabinet I had already looked in three times???? Just didn't have my glasses on straight I guess??

I have reordered parts after looks hours in the garage for them, then after ordering them walking out and finding them. Luckily Paul at welder series is a great guy and was able to refund me. I get so mad when I set something down and can't remember where I put it. I need a bigger garage (to be more lost in) and I'm only 30 LOL!
they run around hideing stuff the moment you look away and slap things into your hand makeing you think ya had it all along
if it's really really quiot out in the shop , sometimes you can hear them giggleing
if you've ever thought you saw a small black shadow move quickly behind something and dismissed it as your eyes playing tricks , no that's a tool elf - a slow one
setting the shop clock ahead a few hours is one of their favorite tricks too

I am going to keep a sharper eye out in the shop from now on. Maybe that's what the dog has been sniffing around for.
Has anyone else lost their glasses/safety glasses only to find them on your head already!!??

Years ago during a renovation i was doing at home, i closed a wall in, couldn't find my tape, then i remembered it was sitting on a crosser inside the wall i had just sheeted over! (It's still there!) Lol
Going to be a find someday for someone, "Hey look, an antique tape measure!!!!"

With me it was a pencil that I was using to mark 2x4s for cross cuts. Walking around "Losing it" because I know I just had it - I just used it a freaking minute ago! Move this, move that, check under the fresh pile of cut offs.....give up, go to the drawer to get another pencil, use it, tuck it behind my ear so I won't lose the new one......oh....there it is! BEHIND MY EAR THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!

Thats as bad as putting some thing in a place that I will find easily and then I do not know where I put it. Keys thats a different story can never find them.
I can relate to all of the above. That's why I have a dozen Robertson screwdrivers and multiples of every other tool. When I was installing escalators I may drop a tool and it is lost inside an escalator. Later, after I bought a new tool, it would show up under the steps at the bottom on the clean out area. But some are still inside only to be found when that unit is removed.
Its like looking for that nut or bolt you dropped and it just disappears................some things can't be explained. must be an alternate universe thingy..........
Yesterday I went out to do some body work on the 55 ended up installing a new radio and speekers. How the hell does that happen. The work on the 1/4 panel I started out to do sounds great though. Ed

You can have 50 it's always the red handle #2 thats no where to be found.
Few years ago I bought an old wooden Chest of drawers. I keep my power tools in the drawers. Have never regretted it and I try to make myself always put them back there when I am done. I keep it right near the power outlet and the air compressor. don
wuga, something going on with those old 6cyl vette carbs I was there today and they had been moved near the door. Be a shame if they escaped.
he said everything is cool but I suspect he is getting impatient.
