Stolen 1970 Olds Cutlass, July 28, 2014
Permalink

A fellow Rodder had his car stolen from the parking lot of the Guelph Holiday Inn between Sunday evening July 27 and Monday morning July 28.

We have two reports that the car MAY have still been there at 5:45 - 6:00 a.m. Monday morning.

If you see this car or potentially parts that might have come from this car, contact the Guelph Police @ 519-824-1212.

That hood alone is worth a fortune! Hopefully its found in one piece beside the guy that's in 10!

I have a guy I know that brings cars up from southern states , and he has told me before that the convertible midsize gm frames are worth a lot , cause usually the roof rots off , then the frame goes , from all the water sitting in the body .
he also said that a clean olds convert frame alone could be worth 2500 to a buyer , according to him , not the lords of automobile info , the cutlass frame although basically the same is a bit beefier in some areas , making it a better , less flex or squeaky ride , then the buick , chebby convert frame .
The big problem in my eyes from eggsperience with older stolen cars , its so easy to just swap a vin tag from a rotter onto that body , not like cars of today that have the serial number stickers on every body part ..77.
EDIT NOTE , the first paragraph is info passed on to me by way of conversation , with a guy who has brought back 2 cutlass convert frames an one complete running cutlass rag in the last 3 months .

I feel sorry for this guy-was he attending the rodder run or just on vacation? At our chevelle shows (www.canamchevelles.org) we hire security guards from 7pm till 8 am to look after the cars in the show. Hope he gets it back-will keep my eyes peeled and my ears open!!
Keep on Cruising!!!

This was an organized event but no special security except the hotel, which isn't much.  Thank you everyone for keeping an eye for this car.  Last it was seen was driving by a rodders home near Elora.  They called 911 but I haven't heard anything since.

I heard about this last night. This was during the Canadian Rodder yearly cruise. There were about 80 other cars involved in the cruise (not sure how many others were staying at the hotel), hourly police patrols and security in the parking lot.

Really sucks as this is a very fun event, I attended last year and had a blast.

Pretty sure he was 1 of 4 cars that came down from Timmins.

Actually, this car is from Napanee. There were 10 cars from Timmins this year. They are a fun group.

I heard about this this past Sunday, Jerry if you think you saw it you should report it even if it is not the same car it may be a lead for the cops. We will keep our eyes open north of 7. Not an Olds guy but that is a very nice ride for sure.
