Ok this is a real dummm azzz bunny beginner question . with that said . the oil pan on my drag car is about 3.5 inches offa the pavement , unfortunately I,m adding about 80 lbs to the frt of the car .
if that drops the pan down to 2.5 or 3 inches , do you think they will call that at the tracks ....St Thomas an Cayuga
I looked at the nhra rule books on line but didn,t see any thing re oil pan height , Unless I missed it ???.
The odd times the water box guy or starter will give the car that bend down an squint , looking at something under the frt of the car . It does not leak oil or coolant
If it goes lower then 3 inches , I might machine up some spacers for top of coils , to get it back up a bit
Fellow racers what do you think ??. ..77.

If I remember right< the minimum clearance required does not apply to the pan. I don"t have a rule book anymore, but something tells me the measurement for clearance was taken from the mid-plate back.
My last car had a maximum of about 1" clearance and at some tracks, we would pull the diaper off so it wouldn"t drag.
There is no minimum clearance listed in the rule book for oil pans, but I would really look into how much suspension travel you have left and then add an inch and a half - 2 inches. Smashing your oil pan off of a wheelie sucks.
No worries there , on the wheelie . I asked a few other guys an got basically the same answer . If it drops down I think I,ll just make up some spacers to raise it back up . Thanks for the replies ..77.
