I just returned from Sarnia's Bluewater hospital. Ed (Dent) Rivard is battling cancer in pallitive care there and could use some visitors. Room number 512 in the Pallitive care unit. Please pass this on to your contacts that know Dent. I know he would really like to see people. Wayne
Thanks for the heads up on this situation Wayne. I will be going up to see my friend (Dent) soon. Hopefully other will go up and visit a "True Hot Rod Car Guy".
Dent and I ran probably the first Model A parts house in Southwestern Ontario. We had a quonset hut in Ballymote ,ON in 1972 and sold parts an did cars until 1974. Crazy SOB,but what can I say. We did OK for a few years. Actually I still have the magazine that featured the FIRST Canadian Nationals here in London in 1972 and the shop catalogue for that year. We bet a couple of guys we would have a car at the Nats, which was 7 days in the future. We collected when we drove a 34 Ford Panel from the trailer(cuz it wasn't licensed)onto the show field under it's own power, painted AND upholstered. The same one we dragged out of the field behind the quonset hut just 7 days prior.
He's a good man and I hope some people can take time out of their busy schedule to pay a visit.
Thanks, Wayne
Spoke to Dent for a while last night and he is coping. I took him to the Paris show the previous weekend as he thought he would not have many meets left in him. Many friends visited and he sold a couple of parts. Stan (Beaumont & Chevelle restorer extraordinaire) visited with Ed's son Dean on Monday and brightened his day. It is at a time like this that I believe that we have to look back and see who influenced or helped us to where we are today. Ed "Dent" Rivard is one of those people with a wealth of knowledge and a history to match that we can thank. Ed gave me my most prized piece that I will cherish for the rest of my life. His "Friendship".........Thank you "Dent"
