I believe '38 was the second year for merc branded outboard motors
my father bought it back in the 50's when he bought the lot he built our cottage on
this motor brought all the building supplies for the shack my parrents started with as well as everything to build the cottage to the lot as there was no road in at the time
in '74 my father took a small engines course and he rebuilt it in class as his project
it's painted rattle can silver and the flakey old decals were reproduced useing testor's model paints
gas cap is a replacement he managed to find while rebulding it - the original is on the bottom of the lake where it used to be docked on a 12 foot oak rowboat
seal at the prop leaked , thus the plastic bag - it hasn't been run since the late 70's
from what I remember as a kid this thing IS LOUD AS HELL so you won't be sneeking up on anything with it
also shown in one of the pics is a green mid 50's johnson 10 hp - it needs parts , 50 bucks takes it home with ya

well Idono about "pull" but considering the building's worth of material it brought a mile down the lake I'd say it'll probably drag most anything you want - but slowly lol
