well it will be my first show - and need to know who what how etc - it is the US after all, and truck, trailer etc needs a place to be for a couple days, hotels etc etc etc
I am hopeful to hook up with some one who knows the ropes, and maybe piggyback on their trip too

I showed my car at Detroit last year. I hooked up with Mark and Rochie, from the ELTA in London, they were a big help and I recommend you let them know your coming. They are going to have around 10 cars there this year. I'm going with them again but won't be taking my car this year. Great guys to hang with and good company in the evenings. We all stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown, and you can walk back and forth to the show from there. When you get there, they have numerous parking lots for trucks and trailers, and a shuttle bus will bring you from the lot back to the show. I recommend you book your room now, the hotels fill up fast.

I see Mark responded to the thread. Rochie has been making the arrangements and it sounds like he will be in touch with you. If you need some contact numbers send me a PM.

It was seeing "The Pepper Mill" at Niagara as a kid that hooked me on Falcons......and Gassers. I think I'd like to do our Comet that way. That Sedan Delivery must have been a handful. A buddy had a '61 Fairlane small block 4 spd "highboy". One night we traded cars, his for our Falcon. First time I got on it, it took off across the road.....then back the other way. After using both lanes, both shoulders and part of an orchard I got it straightened out, lol.
down to the work part - new coat of white on the shocks, cleaned the chrome ladder bars and painted the bracketry for them, polished the rims, and painted the slots in them semi gloss black, polished the grille and repainted the black reveal lines on it, started polishing bits on the motor, started wire brushing the frame ready for some chassis black, ordered some new parts etc etc
well - we be painting - whole truck is sealed in white - just finished the cab - tomorrow the box - then next day the tailgate , front clip and all the little pieces
then to cut and polish it all
we figured there was way too much real estate to try to paint the whole truck at one time - even with slow reducer, it was drying too fast - shop was hot - so we are doing all of the stages
now the COOL part - this is very likely the very last hot rod to ever be painted in the world renown Sherry shop - dirt floor and all - hard to believe so many million dollar cars were painted on/over dirt
Harry Sherry - the only man - restoration shop in the world to ever win Pebble beach three times - is known the world over for his high end restorations - now in his late 70s and has alzheimers really bad so the shop is now closed - and his grand son Mike - who is my grandsons step dad is doing my paint for me - Mike has worked in the shop since he was like 13 and is very skilled himself.
The home made paint booth has a dirt floor - story goes Harry ran out of money when he first built his shop back I nthe early 60s - so no concrete floor - he started painting in it anyway and found the work to be much better cuz the dirt would hold moisture for days rather than minutes like concrete...........

Did you see the one Barrett Jackson sold? If not go to Barrett Jackson Merc truck, then go to images. When I saw it I thought of you! Both are cool looking trucks!
No! I was on the computer the other day and on Yahoo they had posted 11 that had sold, for what ever reason I'm not sure. Anyway they had sold a Merc gasser like yours. I just went into Barretts site and punched in Merc truck then went to images. Let me know if you find it or we could get Carl to do his magic!
it will be done come hell or high water - this has been a life long dream to come play in Detroit - even if it is a 5 footer
Hey brother....looking very nice...from what I see the truck is far from being any 5 footer...lol. It's really taking shape and I know all the brothers down here can't wait to see her make it's debut in Detroit. Well done Ken.
I am at a stand still - Dr's orders - this flu that I have had for 4 weeks has turned into sinus and lung infection - so bed rest for a few days
