I sold my previous black flamed 34 5 window to a fellow rodder from Sarnia and as far as I know he still owns it. It took awhile , but 37 years later I finally have another one.
It's about a 20 year old build . Steel body , chopped 4 inches , with glass fenders. Who ever built the car must have had 69 or 70 dodge donor car , because he swapped in a 340/727 combo with the 8 3/4 mounted on leafs, mustang II front end. It's actually a pretty solid drive train for the little coupe.
Due to the time past since It's last build I have begun the process of updating things. The rear leaf set up has been replaced with a Hortons 4 link setup and I've replaced the steering rack.
New gas tank and lines and new parking brake assembly installed. Seatbelts are standing buy to go in , tired of banging my head off the roof , im 6'4" !
Next up dropped spindl
es to get the front end down and probably a radiator fan upgrade , at that point it will be long trip roadworthy.
It's great to be back in the hot rod world , all things come to those who wait I guess!
Nice looking car. Those early 340 engines were tuff.
Gotta ask ... was your coupe always a coupe? Not sure if it's the camera angle or what, but the roof (behind the doors) and the rear window angle almost looks like they're from a sedan.

Hi Pint , Definitely an original coupe, if you look at the sedan it has the same style line following the window curve , but a much larger window of course. It was a rumble car originally .

Sure , heres the back story.
I bought it on Ebay , Nov of 2007 and went down with my wife Marilyn and hauled it home from Michigan on a borrowed Ram/flatbed. It spent 90% of its life in Georgia so it has never seen salt. It's spotless underneath . Impossible to find a CDN car that good I looked at lots prior to buying this one.
Got very lucky since No one was bidding seriously against me and when I went to do the bank transfer the CDN $ was sitting at $1.07 !
It's pretty much a stock 5.0 5 spd. Just added headers and cold air intake and the old school Enkei rims. It's been pretty trouble free except for a new rad and sadly a new heater core . That's a weekend job on these cars if it has air. Seats , console , shifter ,steering column and dash has to come out of the way. Brutal job.
Car is absolutely the best bang for the buck in the hot rod world. Cheap and fast!
Nice ride, nice to see a hot rod ford with something other than a sbc. The mopar is definitely a unique touch. I like it.
Am I seeing things or is there a tailpipe coming out in front of the rear wheels as well as out the back?
The fox body won't turn many heads but I think you're right about bang for the buck, they are a blast to drive.
You're right, there are a set of sidepipes in front of the back wheels controlled by solenoids. The previous owner threw them on when he upgraded the exhaust. Throw the switch under the drivers seat and it goes from loud to deafening! My sons both love it , but truely the extra plumbing is just a pain in the butt, and every time I throw it I'm afraid it won't close up again and I will have to drive it home like that without ge!tting a ticket
Nice 'Stang Steve. Our daughter bought herself an '84. It's a 4 banger / auto. She's keeping the 4 - but adding a turbo then backing it up with a 5spd. Her hubby's a mechanic but she does alot of her own work. She would LOVE this car.
