Electronic flasher , most direct replacement bulbs already have resisters built in so they will light up

Just go to your local parts store and get an electronic flasher that has a ground lead attached.
When you are buying LED bulbs make sure they are omni-directional otherwise you will be worse off
than with your regular 1157s. The angle of the tail light an/or front signal light mounting will also make
quite a difference with LEDs as far as others being able to see your intentions, be it signalling or braking.

Another thing to remember when switching to leds is to get the lights the same color as the lense they will be seen through.

Red lense = Red led

Amber lense = Amber led

When I switched everything on my 67 F100 to led, I also covered the inside of the light housings with reflective tape. I used the same tape you see on trailers.

On a 194 bulb (you'll find them used in dash lights and marker light locations) where you can put them in a socket either way, it may not light up. Take it out, spin it 180 degree's and plug it back in and see if it will light up then. A LED is polarity sensitive, just like most diodes it works like an electrical check valve and will pass current through one way but not the other. So if you have one that don't work...don't toss it until you test it by running power through it the other way. If the harness has a resister built in just before the socket (resister attached across the two leads) it will generally work no matter what the orientation of the bulb is.

I'm going to change the incandescent 1157 bulbs in the tail lights with LED. Was going with the white bulbs but.......your saying go with the red behind the red lens. How come? Are the white to bright and washout the red?? Haven't bought them yet so I can make a change in plans easy enough.

Its due to the spectrum of light that the lense will allow to pass through it. If you use white leds with a red lense it gets washed out.

It turns your red lights pink.
