HOGTOWN METAL SHAPING MEET
Permalink

APRIL 18-19 , 2015

The fourth annual Hogtown Meet will be held at my work place on the third weekend of April this year.

I will bring all my shaping equipment from home but we could always use more shaping stuff such as ewheels, hammers, bags, stumps, etc.

English Wheels. This is one piece of equipment extremely important to the meet and I'd hope to see a couple/few guys make the effort to get machines here.

I have manual shrinkers and stretchers and also the Baleigh power shrinker/stretcher to play with. We have enough TIG welders so we're OK there.

BBQ lunch will be served both days.
Both days we will get started at 9:00 AM and run until everyone's burned out.

The meet will be held in the Markham Road/Finch Avenue area in Scarborough.

If you have a large project let me know as the time gets closer, I can see if we can have enough space for everything.

If you wish to attend please reply to this thread so I have an idea of how many are coming.

Thanks,
Pugsy

Just myself.

I have some metal working equipment I could bring along if I can find a little trailer.

Mainly a wheeling machine and a beating station with assorted dollies and a couple bags.

Do you need torches???

beating station.jpgE wheel.jpg

There isn't anything I need to build, just thought I'd hangout and meet some folks and help out where I could.

 I've got you down Moobster.

Anything you could bring would be great and if you'd like to help out, even better as I tore my shoulder muscles and I won't be able to give stump shrinking demos.

I've got some torches. Just got to remember to get them out.

Thanks for the bump.

It's a great event even if you just come to watch, hang out for a bit, bench race, meet some of the fellow members and have some lunch.

Pugsy,

I saw your posts and would like to attend. I am not sure exactly what this is all about. I get the feeling you are opening your shop and offering the use of your equipment along with any equipment others may bring for the event. Is this like a hands on, try this tool, bend cut shape weld some stuff. Or actually working on guys projects and pieces. Learning some techniques and tricks and such along the way. I have a '61 suburban that I need to fix the roof on and any practice or watching others do some metal work would be great. Or is it getting together with car guys, swapping ideas and metal work stuff and stories. Which is great as well.

Anyway, I will be there

Sorry for the late reply. I lost my notifications.

You got it right the first time.

Hands on playing with steel. We'll have blanks for you to pick up and beat into a compound curve.

I've got you penciled in.

Do you have room for one more, I'm new to the forum and would appreciate the opportunity to meet some of the group and learn some sheet metal working skills.

3 Days, I can't wait!!

I will bring the morning coffee and sweets, do we have an approx. head count?
I was going to bring 2 boxes of Tim Horton's coffee 20 cups, if you think we will need more I will bring it but I just wanted to insure there was enough for everyone?

Last count shows 23 but it could be more, could be less.

Now 2 days to go. Can't wait to meet everyone. Thanks again for the invite Pugsy. Opening up your shop for everyone is great. And I know you do not know all of them (like myself), It just shows there are still good people. I am sure this weekend will be fun.

Thank you very much Jari, for your hospitality as well as your wealth of knowledge! And thank you so much for all your help with my fenders, I learned a lot from you and the rest of the gang, considering I have never worked on any kind of body panels requiring any finesse.

It was also great to put some faces to the names and for my first time getting together with some of the
Ont. Hotrodder's I felt very welcome, thank you very much for that to all the crowed.

I'm looking forward to making a bowl next year, NOT out of S.S. LOL

I would also like to thank Pugsy for a great couple of days. Making a bowl from a circle of sheet steel using a hammer and stump after I made a huge beer cap using the forks was awesome. All the guys were easy going and I learned a lot.

Giving forward by sharing your knowledge, your shop and your time with some total strangers is an unselfish thing to do. And thanks to your buddies that know a few metal working tips for helping out, cooking, and bringing in some of thier tools. Looking forward to next year already. Hope to see all you guys next year or at some events this summer.

Pugsy,
As much as I intended on being there , I must now out . Last week I was along with a number of co-workers a buyout package from my job ,the one I thought I'd be at until I didn't need to work anymore, that's corporate for you! At any rate,I had better pay attention to the dollars for now and stay where I am and possibly try to create a few extra bucks in my shop for the future, I am sure you're at capacity anyway, you always seem to have no trouble filling the shop. Again, wish I could be there, I will truly miss this event and your company . Till next time, see you all around the bend..
