I never really liked this show. You would have to arrive mid Friday afternoon and park at the dusty dirty fair grounds for an hour or two as they lined up the cars on Main street. Then you can't leave until after 10:30 pm when every thing is over.
Downtown Milton Classic Cruise Night Car Show cancelled for 2015
The Downtown Milton Classic Cruise Night is an annual event held on the 3rd Friday night of July in the heart of Downtown Milton. Hosted by the Downtown Milton BIA, this highly-anticipated event attracts 10,000+ people to our Downtown community while over 100 classic cars line our Main Street.
After much consideration, the Downtown Milton BIA has made the decision to cancel this event for 2015. This year's event would have coincided with a Pan Am event being hosted in Milton. The Downtown Milton BIA is excited to support and contribute to the community spirit of the 2015 Pan Am Games. Hosting the car show, on the same night as a Pan Am event, may have detracted from the importance of the games for our community.
Join us in Downtown Milton for the Pan Am Torch Relay on Tuesday, June 23rd and watch for more details coming soon about a unique promotion. See if you can Capture the Flags in Downtown Milton!
Downtown Milton's Classic Cruise Night will return in 2016!
Mark your calendars now for Friday, July 15th, 2016!
Maybe reading too much into this statement, but. "Hosting the car show, on the same night as a Pan Am even, may have detracted from the importance of the games for our community".
I guess the car people who brought in the 10,000 plus number of people annually have just been pawns in the BIA game. Why, after this statement by the BIA would anyone go back? I have no idea.
The only positive I can see is that maybe the Can Am Midgets can run the velodrome once the bikes have left for good and no one knows what in the hell to do with the place.
Could the BIA not pick "another" night ,before or after the Scam AM games???? once you cancel a car show event, your pretty well "screwed" for the following yr. Most car owners will find another event this yr. for that date & likely stick with it for the following yr.

I am sure that much of what goes on around the games is dictated by the Broom Hilda group.
They want the spotlight on them, their projects and nothing else. Wait until the $$$ crap hole is exposed on these games and the GTA can them another majority to sort it out.
typical of the granola eating egghead crowd. let's all hold hands and sing coombaya. can't siphon enough graft out of a cruise night but with 1.4 billion up for grabs - well.........

I get the feeling if the show was Concours - you know - Bugatti, Ferrari, Alfa's, Cords, Auburns etc that it would have been more to "their" liking. But our dirty old hot-rods??, oh no. Having promoted events for almost 20 years I can state with confidence they'll have a tough go getting folks interested next year. The hard-core loyal ones will return, newbies will flock to it but the average guy like me will still be smarting from the bitch-slap by Milton's Municipal talking heads. F 'em. My 2 cents.

You are bang on Doug, my simple mind just forgot about the 1.4 billion. Sorry for the error.
You know there were so many ways the memo/press release by the Milton BIA could have been written. Like thanking the car folks and the 10,000 supporters and confirming they will be back bigger than ever in 2016. Simply saying they lacked the manpower to it right this year and they feel bad about it would have been a whole lot more palatable than sounding like they were simply dismissing them for a better opportunity that came along. Oh yeah. $1.4 billion. Sorry again.
Still the Can Am Midgets in the Velodrome would be quite the show. Want to see some brave race car drivers? Look up the Nutley (NJ it think) Velodrome.
