Any licenced car salesperson can do an appraisal. Just find a person that's into old stuff, and will probably do it REAL cheap. How many do you need done??

Welcome Steve, Just make sure you get a "Registration Appraisal" and not an Insurance Appraisal.
Take pictures with you to the shop. They do not need to see the vehicle in person.
Take the appraisal and the bill of sale to Service Ontario to register in your name.
EDIT::
Best to go to a shop that deals with or is familiar with older vehicles.

Just think about that for a moment "they don't need to physically see it". How do they know you aren't committing fraud and saying that's the car when it's a pristine show car? How do they know this isn't wrapped up in a divorce and someone I'd trying to commit fraud to cheat the other partner? I speak from experience! Find a dealer close to you. Hopefully that you deal with. Explain the situation and I'm sure they would take a half hour or so to come and verify the vin on the car to make sure everything is on the up and up. My 2 cents.
None of the people out my way that do these, want to see the car, just show them a picture of it, BOOM Bob's your uncle" done, take it to the lic office, & it's usually lower than the Bill of sale so don't show them BOS!!!! If you try to Lic it too soon then that will fly a REDFLAG!!!! Sit on it for a few mths. if that's what your eventually going to do.

That's what I did when I registered my 58. No fraud committed at all. Took it to a reputable shop that dealt with old cars. Showed them the pictures I had and my receipt.
10 minutes later had my appraisal paper for Service Ontario and bobs somebody's uncle.
Thanks again. I will do just that and get it taken care of at long last. It's a royal pain in the butt. I asked the clerk at the licence bureau who does estimate's and she didn't know. Perhaps they should know if they expect people to do what they ask.

That is a big beef of mine I asked the same and got the same answer !!!
I'm not taking a car to a busy repair shop that does NOT want to be bothered
and what if the car is not safetied ? can drive but not licenced ?
especially in small towns
Thats why I sent photos and had my car appraised for tax ONLINE
