My son has acquired a complete Ford 5.0, fuel injected engine that he was told was out of a Crown Vic. He is interested in knowing the specs of this motor.
To the best our ability we have deciphered the code behind the intake to be: GH101159. We have searched the net but cannot arrive at a spec.
We do not want to start tearing it down to investigate just yet but that will be the next step.
The big question is...is it a roller valve train, forged piston 5.0?
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Show a pic of the engine. The intake will show quickly if it s a mustang, big car, or truck motor.
If its port fuel injected it is probably a roller cam motor. 90% of them were, with only a few years in the 80's still having the flat tappet cam and port fuel injection.
If its from a big car or truck, it will not be the high performance model and will not have forged pistons. Only certain years of the high performance motors had forged pistons, as they went to Hypereutectics in the 90's.
You should be able to get the date code off the block which will tell you when it was cast. That will give you the model year.
