The last time I pulled up to the Tree at the drags was in Cayuga 1984. Well if all goes well and my health holds up I should be piloting a 1957 Chevy. Vintage Drags like they would have run in 1969 NHRA Competition . 283 dual four 4 speed 57 which I have and a 57 I just dragged home.

This one will be a Drag Car. When you go to big events they are very clean. Here are some pics from the events http://gasserbob.smugmug.com/YorkUS30Reunion/York-2014/42942303_hQvk48#!i=3388821701&k=2wWZ9p9
Your going to take a beautiful 57 2 door and cut it up and make it a race car wow good for you
Not a lot of cutting to do.. Jr. Stockers were raced in NHRA Competition till the end of 1971. They are basically a street car with minor mods and fine tuning. With the invention of bracket racing the class cars are about forgotten. Way back in the day these cars ran using the National Record for the class as their "dial in". It will probably run mid 13s which isn't all that bad for a hyd cam'd stock lift and duration 283. There are some good Jr. Stock pics on Facebook.
I'm looking forward to York and Beaver Springs 2016.
was down there last month, darwin doll said it was the last one. hopefully someone else will keep things going. there is a big interest in jr stockers, there was talk of possibly a jr stk gathering at cecil county next year.

I didn't realize Junior Stock was done after 71 ....was at the National in Indy that year so I guess I witnessed the last hurrah without realizing it . I did enjoy watching them .
Nice car, looking forward to the build. Was the 4sp not removed from NHRA as it was not even an option in 57? They also disallowed the hydro- auto in cars as it was a truck only trany, but allowed in the sedan deliveries as they were classed as trucks?

Henry. The 4 speeds were around in 1969, I'm not sure but I think it was 71 when the hydro's and 4 speeds were outlawed. In 72 it was pure stock.
I picked up a "Pro Shift" gear set for a Muncie and am on the hunt for a 60 inch wide (outside measurement) 9 inch and a lakewood scatter shield. And the fun goes on.
I say cut her up . You can see lots of them at any show. I guess you need to choose weather to sit in a lawn chair at a show or race the wheels off of it at the drag strip. See you at Armdrop in a couple weeks. We are going to have a blast running our friends. Ed
Project 57 up-date ……. I Picked up a 12 bolt rear end, a Lakewood Scatter Shield and a set of Traction Bars. Still collecting parts. Need a set of Fenderwell Headers but I may have a lead on them.
